MOROCCO: 8 Things You Need to Know Before Travelling there!
Obviously, who says different culture, also says "different customs". And because of this, as there are people who would like to visit Morocco with the greatest respect for local traditions and courtesies, in this video, we have collected the main rules of conduct and politeness of Morocco which will help you to know how to react in all circumstances. Thus, you will be able to visit Morocco with the greatest respect for Moroccan culture, just as you will enrich your knowledge by being aware of the prohibitions of Morocco. All the excuses are good to bring together a family or friends around good meals. Moroccans, in family or with relatives in general, always eat together. It's very user-friendly! When you are invited to a Moroccan family, you sit in front of a round table, on the floor or most often on a saddari - a sort of firm and comfortable bench - but before going to the table, a member of the family or a servant passes around with water and soap so that the guests can rinse their hands before eating. They eat with the right hand - thumb, index and middle finger - because the left hand is reserved for the restroom, and it is therefore considered unclean. You can also eat with a piece of bread. If you are invited to eat couscous, you will eat it with a spoon but know that it is traditionally eaten with the hand. Moroccans form small balls with semolina, meat and crushed vegetables. Also note that in Morocco, it is forbidden to discuss 4 subjects: Sexuality, politics, the king and religion. The liver has the same symbolic function as the heart, because it is the place of emotionality by excellence. It refers to moral qualities, such as courage, sensitivity, indifference. It represents in the first place affection and for example, the Kabyles say: "her liver has resigned", to say that of a mother who has mourned the real or symbolic loss of a child. When Moroccans feel a great hatred for someone, it is common to hear: "I am going to eat his or her liver raw." This organ can comply with certain habits: You can even put the loved one in your liver. The expression is also used for the heart. If there is a clear separation between the liver and the heart, they come together at times: love, the function of the heart, can return to the liver. It is said that a girl is born in the liver and the more she grows, the more she comes out of it, but that the boy is born outside the liver and the more he grows, the more he enters it. This is one way of asserting that mothers break away from their daughters in order to attach themselves to their boys. Arises here explicitly according to the way in which the relationship with the intimate is constructed. Couscous is an essential element of Moroccan cultural identity. Moreover, it was declared a “Common Maghreb heritage”. The couscous dish is part of everyday dishes, but can also be eaten on special occasions such as: weddings, religious ceremonies, birth, offerings, circumcision, death, etc. It is also very common to be eaten during Eid el-Kebir which means "feast of sacrifice" or "great feast". But be careful, do not confuse it with Eid al-Fitr which means "little celebration" and which marks the end of Ramadhan. It also has a very strong symbolism, because it is a dish of sharing and solidarity. Thus, Moroccans compliment each other around a good couscous to strengthen friendships, alliances or to show hospitality and generosity. There are a variety of tattoos in Berber culture: The tattoo of the forehead, face, abdomen, back, and other places. Tattoos took on several geometric shapes, semiotic symbols, and symbols of function. Humans have used various techniques and instruments to mark their body, such as: bones, sticks, comb teeth, sharp instruments, needles, ink of all kinds and colors, henna, colored powders, sharp knives and plants .. Today industrial and power tools are used for body tattooing, with the use of machines and needles or laser beams. Among the Berbers, the materials used for the filling of tattoos are kohl, hawks, grease smoke, fragrant herbs, black charcoal, spices, including several tattoo application techniques The Djellaba, a symbol of many patriotic values, an official costume of allegiance, a certified habit of members of the government in parliament, worn for centuries by all the Monarchs of Morocco during religious festivals as well as official ceremonies, has always been and continues to be the representative dress of Moroccan women. The Djellaba is a maghrebian tuni, has now found a place in the world of high end fashion: it is a symbol of elegance, it carries a wonderful message of great scope of Moroccan cultural heritage.
