But by the end of that journey, my adventure came to an unexpected halt when my car broke down between Albion and Landewey in St. Thomas because of an alternator problem. Thankfully, a good Samaritan came to my rescue and helped get the car to safety. I thought the worst was finally behind me. But the very next day, we returned to move the car, and what should have been a simple task quickly turned into something neither of us expected. One setback led to another, and before long, the rescue mission became a rescue mission of its own. What secrets are hidden within the quiet community of Richmond in St. Thomas? In this documentary-style exploration, I visit the remains of these historic plantations to uncover the stories behind their crumbling walls. During the early eighteenth century, Boston and Buckingham were jointly owned by Hon. Thomas Bernard and Giles Diston. Following Bernard's death in 1728, probate records revealed an estate that included 360 enslaved people, whose forced labour fueled the production of sugar and rum—the foundation of Jamaica's colonial economy. Using historical records, maps, and on-site exploration, this video examines the estate's ownership, Thomas Bernard's will, the operation of the plantation, and the legacy left behind by one of eastern Jamaica's forgotten sugar estates. Many people believe it was once an abandoned settlement, but the reality is far more interesting. In this episode, I travel into Rowlandsfield to uncover its forgotten past. While researching the area, I discovered that very little has been documented about the old plantation. Historical references suggest the estate may have been named after an early owner known as Lord Rowlandsfield, yet the name does not appear on James Robertson's famous 1804 Map of Jamaica. Instead, the property is listed under Hon. Simon Taylor, raising questions about who truly owned or managed the estate during that period. During my time there, I set out with one goal: to document the island's remarkable history. In total, I filmed over 22 historic sites across Barbados, uncovering stories that deserve to be remembered. In this episode, I visit Clifton Hall Great House, one of Barbados' most historic estates. What I expected to be a simple tour quickly became one of the most fascinating historical experiences I've ever had. The owner generously welcomed me into the house, shared the estate's history, and introduced me to the extraordinary story of Ferdinando Paleologus, believed to have been a descendant of the last ruling dynasty of the Byzantine (Eastern Roman) Empire. During our conversation, I learned about Roman history, the Byzantine Empire, theology, religion, and the remarkable journey of a family whose story stretches from the fall of Constantinople to the Caribbean. I was even shown a rare book about the Paleologus family, making this a truly unforgettable experience. Please watch this video until the very end. While exploring Google Earth, I accidentally stumbled across a mysterious structure hidden deep in the landscape. It looked like ancient ruins, but after searching colonial maps, slave records, and every source I could find, there was no trace of it anywhere. What was this forgotten place… and why does no one seem to know it exists?

While searching Google Earth for new places to explore, I came across a strange formation that immediately caught my attention. It looked too straight, too unusual, and completely out of place. At first, I thought it was nothing… but after checking Google Historical Imagery and comparing older satellite views, I realized this feature was clearly man-made. Things became even more interesting when I checked the James Robertson 1804 map of Jamaica and discovered that the area was listed as a “pond.” That discovery raised even more questions. Was this an old water system? A forgotten structure? Or something completely lost to history? In this video, I travel to the location myself to investigate what I found and uncover the truth behind this mysterious site. While exploring the area known as Duckworth, I came across a massive stone aqueduct hidden in the bush — a structure that once powered a large sugar estate. This aqueduct was part of the infrastructure of the historic Duckworth Plantation, an estate connected to the planter Charles White Williams during the early 1800s. These systems were built to transport water across the landscape to power plantation operations, including mills used to process crops such as sugar cane. Evidence in the surrounding hills also suggests that coffee may have been grown in nearby areas as well. Today, the aqueduct stands abandoned and partially reclaimed by nature, but its massive stone arches still reveal the scale of engineering that once supported plantation life in this part of Jamaica. While documenting the ruins, something unexpected happened — I was actually told to stop filming. Most people drive through this area without realizing that these stones were once part of a massive plantation estate connected to early land grants, powerful colonial families, and the plantation economy that shaped Jamaica after the English seized the island in 1655. During my ancestry research, I discovered a surprising connection to Matthew Gregory Lewis, a plantation owner who documented life on Jamaican estates in the early 1800s. That discovery led me back to this very location.
