Inside Himmler’s SS: Power, Ideology and Terror
Heinrich Himmler rose from an unremarkable background to become one of the most powerful and feared figures in Nazi Germany. As head of the SS, he transformed a small protection unit into a vast organization responsible for terror, occupation policies, and the Holocaust. This documentary traces Himmler’s journey from a shy middle-class youth in Munich to the architect of the SS state. Obsessed with racial ideology, Himmler built an elite order dedicated to the Nazi vision of a “racial aristocracy.” Under his leadership, the SS oversaw concentration camps, enforced brutal occupation policies in Eastern Europe, and carried out the genocide of millions. The film also examines Himmler’s fanatical belief in “Germanization,” including the kidnapping of thousands of children from occupied territories who were considered racially suitable to become Germans. As the war turned against Nazi Germany, the once-powerful SS leader attempted secret negotiations with the Allies before ultimately taking his own life in 1945. Through historical analysis and survivor testimony, this documentary reveals how one man helped build the machinery of terror that defined the Nazi regime. Did you miss episode 1 of the series? Florida Freeze Disaster: Hundreds of Mango Trees Destroyed Overnight
A devastating freeze recently hit South Florida, destroying hundreds of young mango trees on a 7-acre tropical fruit farm in Loxahatchee, Florida. In this episode of Fruitful Trees, we visit a farm that lost nearly all of its newly planted mango trees when temperatures dropped to around 26°F. The farm owner explains what happened, what they tried to do to protect the trees, and what they learned from the experience. Many growers used irrigation, mulch, and coverings to try to save their trees, but in this case most of the small mango trees were lost. Larger trees survived better, showing how tree size and maturity play a major role in freeze tolerance. We also discuss: • Why inland areas of South Florida experience colder temperatures • Why larger mango trees survive freezes better • Whether sprinklers help protect trees during cold events • Why some tropical fruits survived while mangoes died • Lessons for farmers planting mango orchards in Florida Despite the losses, the farmer is already replanting 450 mango trees, showing the resilience of tropical fruit growers. If you love tropical fruit trees, mango farming, and learning how to grow fruit in Florida, this video will give you valuable insights into the challenges growers face.
