Is There Congressional Support For Trump's Temporary US Gas Tax Halt?
Representative Darrell Issa (R-CA), Vice Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and a member of the House Judiciary Committee, backs President Trump's push for a federal gas tax holiday, calling the 18-cent cut "symbolic" but still meaningful for consumers despite previously criticizing a similar proposal under the Biden administration. Issa also says China must be "part of the solution" to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and defends staying the course in the Iran conflict despite rising inflation and gas prices, arguing long-term peace outweighs short-term economic pain. He speaks with Kailey Leinz and Joe Mathieu on the late edition of Bloomberg's "Balance of Power." -------- More on Bloomberg Television and Markets Like this video? A Spoon You Can Eat Is a Tasty Alternative to Plastic Waste | Short Film Showcase
Plastic cutlery has been around for years, widely considered the only choice for cheap, disposable cutlery. Knowing the threat plastic poses to our environment and health, Narayana Peesapathy created a tasty and nutritious alternative: edible cutlery. Made with flours of jowar (sorghum) blended with rice and wheat, the spoons contain no chemicals, preservatives, fat, emulsifiers, artificial colors, or milk products. They're 100 percent natural, biodegradable, and come in a variety of sweet and savory flavors. Black Ticket Films and The Better India teamed up to produce this short film about how, from now on, finishing your meal might have a new meaning. TIL: A Bumblebee's Buzz Is Basically a Superpower | Today I Learned

Certain plants, including many of the ones we like to eat, store their pollen deep in the flower where bees can't access it. This could be a real problem, since bees play a crucial role in pollinating plants, helping them to produce the fruits we love to eat. No need to worry—bumblebees have our backs. They've adapted a secret weapon aka buzz pollination, or sonication, to unlock that pollen. The bumblebee attaches to the flower and vibrates its muscles with forces up to 30 g's! This produces the buzzing sound and shakes the pollen right onto the bumblebee, which then pollinates other flowers. So the next time you're eating blueberries, thank the bumblebee and its superpower buzz. Bolt has a lot more to teach you about bumblebees and has partnered with National Geographic grantee Neil Losin to make the film "A Ghost in the Making: Searching for the Rusty-Patched Bumble Bee.” Be sure to check out it out at http://www.rustypatched.com. These Indoor Wildfires Help Engineers Study the Real Thing | National Geographic
See researchers start their own fires to study how wildfires burn. Wildfires can be a devastating force that are hard to predict, but a team of researchers from the University of California, Riverside create these fires in their lab to understand how they burn and spread. The researchers prepare different types of forest brush and add other elements such as wind and humidity that affect fire behavior. The data collected is then used to predict how wildfires will behave under certain conditions. By working with the U.S. Forest Service, the researchers hope that their experiments will help firefighters understand and manage real fires. ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/NatGeoSubscribe About National Geographic: National Geographic is the world's premium destination for science, exploration, and adventure. How the Trump-Xi Relationship Has Changed
Donald Trump is expecting economic deals and a “wild” welcome this week in China. In reality, he’ll arrive facing an emboldened Xi Jinping, just as his own hand is constrained by the conflict in Iran.  When the US president touches down in Beijing on Wednesday evening for a 36-hour summit, it’ll mark his first overseas trip since waging war in the Middle East. Over talks at the Great Hall of the People and a state dinner, followed by morning tea, the leaders will discuss trade, tariffs and the self-ruled island of Taiwan. Another agenda item, of course, is Iran.  Sara Schuman, Managing Director at Beacon Global Strategies and former Senior Trade Representative for China at the Office of the United States Trade Representative joins Balance of Power to discuss. -------- Watch Bloomberg Radio LIVE on YouTube Weekdays 7am-6pm ET Saturday & Sunday 7am-10am ET WATCH HERE: http://bit.ly/3vTiACF Follow us on X: https://twitter.com/BloombergRadio Subscribe to our Podcasts: Bloomberg Daybreak: http://bit.ly/3DWYoAN Bloomberg Surveillance: http://bit.ly/3OPtReI Bloomberg Intelligence: http://bit.ly/3YrBfOi Balance of Power: http://bit.ly/3OO8eLC Bloomberg Businessweek: http://bit.ly/3IPl60i Listen on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with the Bloomberg Business app: Apple CarPlay: https://apple.co/486mghI Android Auto: https://bit.ly/49benZy Visit our YouTube channels: Bloomberg Podcasts: https://www.youtube.com/bloombergpodcasts Bloomberg Television: https://www.youtube.com/@markets Bloomberg Originals: https://www.youtube.com/bloomberg Quicktake: https://www.youtube.com/@BloombergQuicktake

Trump Says Trade Not Iran Will Be Priority in Summit With Xi (Q&A)
US President Donald Trump said he would prioritize trade discussions during his summit with Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, and downplayed the amount of attention they would devote to the Iran war. “We’re going to be talking to President Xi about a lot of things. I would say, more than anything, trade,” Trump told reporters Tuesday at the White House as he departed for the highly anticipated meeting in Beijing. “We have a lot of things to discuss. I wouldn’t say Iran is one of them, to be honest with you, because we have Iran very much under control,” he added. “We’re either going to make a deal or they’re going to be decimated one way or the other.” He spoke to reporters at the White House. -------- Watch Bloomberg Radio LIVE on YouTube Weekdays 7am-6pm ET Saturday & Sunday 7am-10am ET WATCH HERE: http://bit.ly/3vTiACF Follow us on X: https://twitter.com/BloombergRadio Subscribe to our Podcasts: Bloomberg Daybreak: http://bit.ly/3DWYoAN Bloomberg Surveillance: http://bit.ly/3OPtReI Bloomberg Intelligence: http://bit.ly/3YrBfOi Balance of Power: http://bit.ly/3OO8eLC Bloomberg Businessweek: http://bit.ly/3IPl60i Listen on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with the Bloomberg Business app: Apple CarPlay: https://apple.co/486mghI Android Auto: https://bit.ly/49benZy Visit our YouTube channels: Bloomberg Podcasts: https://www.youtube.com/bloombergpodcasts Bloomberg Television: https://www.youtube.com/@markets Bloomberg Originals: https://www.youtube.com/bloomberg Quicktake: https://www.youtube.com/@BloombergQuicktake
