In reality, the whales were orchestrating an elaborate courtship, something their species does often. They roll and rub to familiarize themselves with one another and to make sure the female is receptive to mating. The footage was shot via drone by Mark Girardeau. How can the U.S. National Parks attract more minority visitors? America's national parks were created as free spaces for all to enjoy, but in both visitors and employees, they have struggled with diversity. A poll done by the National Parks Service in 2008-2009 found that 78% of visitors were white, even though they comprise only 63.7% of the U.S. population. Measuring in at over six feet, the python had been seen repeatedly in a family's patio in Queensland, Australia. By sunning herself on the warm patio stones, she would then transfer the warmth to her clutch of 16 eggs, which she was incubating under a nearby bench. Both the mother and her young were removed in order to be released a safe distance from family patios. For the egg's safety/protection, they will be artificially incubated by Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers, taking up to two months to hatch. California's Oroville Dam holds a reservoir containing 1.1 trillion gallons of water, providing water—and power—to much of the state. Recent weather events caused it to fill up way above normal capacity. Concrete in the 50-year-old dam's main spillway, designed to handle overflow, crumbled, forcing managers to use the auxiliary or emergency spillway. Water pouring from the emergency spillway caused damage to the ground below, putting that spillway at risk of collapsing and leading to an evacuation of more than 180,000 nearby residents. The situation has since stabilized and people have been told they can return home, but workers are still rushing to make repairs and shore up the dam ahead of approaching storms. So maybe it's understandable that when a woman living near Chennai, India, complained of a pain in her nose that was keeping her from getting to sleep, the first doctor she consulted didn’t reach that correct diagnosis. He told the woman the pain should resolve on its own. Fortunately, a second physician referred her to Chennai’s Stanley Medical College and Hospital, where the ENT Department discovered the embedded insect. Using endoscopy, they succeeded in pulling the still-living roach from a sinus cavity through the nose. Dr. M.N. Shankar, head of ENT at Stanley, remarked that the procedure may have prevented a possible infection of the brain.
