The Hurricane Ended; Their Struggle Didn't. #HurricaneMelissa
The hurricane lasted only a few hours. Their recovery is taking months. Today, we're heading back into the hills to visit a few families who are still struggling after Hurricane Melissa. ***README*** 🙏 Support our GoFundMe effort to assist families in Left Hall and Beeston Spring as they continue rebuilding: https://gofund.me/e40ba5d2f 🙏 Learn more about our foundation and how you can partner with us: https://www.MyIslandJamaicaFoundation.org 🙏 If you, or someone you know, would like to donate supplies such as plywood, zinc sheets, water drums, clothing, or other essentials, please reach out to me at 876-825-2237 🙏 Be sure to watch the original Hurricane Melissa devastation video here: https://youtu.be/INT-VL4bt9U?sub_confirmation=1 👀 WHAT'S IN THIS VIDEO? Months after Hurricane Melissa tore through the hills of Left Hall and Beeston Spring, some families are still struggling to rebuild their lives. The storm has passed. The headlines have faded. But for many residents, the struggle continues. Since the hurricane, I have received a number of personal calls from residents still trying to recover. Some were able to rebuild temporary shelters. Others are still waiting for that opportunity. In this video, we return to the community to visit a few of those families. Thanks to the generosity of supporters including Dr. Judith Johnson and others who have assisted these recovery efforts, we're able to deliver plywood, zinc sheets, clothing, and a little hope to help move the rebuilding process forward. Along the way, you'll hear directly from residents as they share their hurricane experience, the challenges they've faced since, and what keeps them going despite it all. One thing I've learned through this journey is that recovery doesn't happen overnight. It happens one family at a time. One act of kindness at a time. One step at a time. I also want to extend special thanks to the many people who have supported these efforts over the past several months, including: 🙏 Dr. Judith Johnson 🙏 Dorothy Darby 🙏 Donors on GoFundMe 🙏 Ceceille 🙏 Owen Wilson 🙏 Karen Black 🙏 Ms. Primrose and her daughter Shelly B 🙏 The Phillipe Family 🙏 The Patterson Family (St. Mary) 🙏 Rick 🙏 My own family 🙏 And the many others who gave, prayed, encouraged, shared the videos, and quietly supported the cause Your generosity has reached real people, real families, and real needs. If you would like to learn more or support the ongoing rebuilding efforts, you can visit: 👉 GoFundMe Page: https://gofund.me/e40ba5d2f 👉 My Island Jamaica Foundation: https://www.myislandjamaicafoundation.org 👉 WhatsApp: 876-825-2237 Even if you're unable to donate, sharing this video helps more than you might imagine.
