Somewhere on Earth - Nevada | Free Documentary Somewhere on Earth - All episodes: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLgqOez346ZP9s66MluVKg-D5FiDGB9Jx Burning deserts and massive mountain ranges: the state of Nevada in the American West is an uncompromising land. In this rugged landscape, Men with their original, rough-hewn characters live out their purest aspirations. Nevada is the site of the Burning Man Festival, a utopian space of ephemeral creations in the heart of the desert. The cowboy tradition is still alive and well in this state that can seem like a page out of the Old West. While in Las Vegas, the world’s most intrepid daredevils vie with the eagles. For several years now, Matt Schultz has been creating works of art that he installs and exposes during the Burning Man, this music and contemporary art festival totally off-the-wall. Matt lives in Reno, situated in a mountainous region in the northwest of Nevada near California. He often heads to Black Rock desert. Black Rock is not your ordinary desert. In this season it’s empty and barren like any other desert. But for one week a year, at the end of August, a huge crowd gathers here for a totally off-the-wall music and arts festival: Burning Man. Andy Hedges is a musician from Texas. He’s 35 and is part of a young generation captivated by The Cowboy Culture. Now, he’s touring Nevada, driving on Highway 50, which Life magazine once called, “The Loneliest Road in America.” Traveling this route, Andy is sure to find the genuine America, the America that he recaptures in his songs. Tex Coe runs an airline that is nothing like other companies. It’s specialized in aerobatics. Las Vegas International Airport. 8 A.M. The entire crew is out on the tarmac to prepare the aircraft for the day’s flights… with tender loving care! Tex Coe heads this gang of daredevils. For 11 years he was part of the Air Force’s elite corps of fighter pilots. Today for Tex and his crew, aerobatics is their way of defying death, but they do it with a laugh. A dangerous game but so very exciting! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ Instagram: https://instagram.com/free.documentary/ Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #SomewhereOnEarth ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bringing high-class documentaries to you on YouTube for free. Carousel of Life – The Traditional Orchard - Go Wild
Blossoming trees, meadows splashed with colour and juicy fruit – traditional mixed orchards are a little paradise right on the outskirts of our cities and villages. Here, plants, animals and man live in a mutually dependent symbiosis. It is a world of its own, that turns with the rhythm of the seasons. A carousel of life – with no beginning and no end. Hundreds of years ago, man created this unique cultivated landscape to enable him to grow fruit in large quantities while using the fields to raise livestock. Over time, these orchards have become a widely varied habitat, home to countless animal, insect and plant species. The old fruit trees offer nesting places for almost every species of bird, the many grasses, flowers and herbs attract insects while underground there are multitudes of field mice – welcome sustenance for foxes and birds of prey. Migratory birds return to the traditional mixed orchards every year as the conditions here are ideal for breeding. Only with the help of man can traditional mixed orchards be preserved. From pruning the trees at the end of winter and mowing the grass throughout summer to the fruit harvest in autumn - man creates change all year round in the orchards, shaping the lives of its animal inhabitants as he does so. It takes a lot of work to care for and cultivate these orchards, and the return is uneconomical compared to ordinary, commercially-run orchards. Today, traditional mixed orchards are among the endangered biotopes in central Europe. The film is a ride on the carousel of life that is never ending in the orchard. As the seasons change, we experience the interplay of nature, man and animal. Each depends on the other – and observing this miniature world, we gain an impressive perspective on the principles of life. We accompany typical orchard dwellers like the nuthatch, field mouse, the squirrel or the deer throughout the year, experience carefree, astonishing and poignant moments and watch the eternally fascinating dance of life and death. These encounters create an awareness that traditional mixed orchards are much more than an obsolete agricultural anomaly. As an essential part of European heritage they are above all a valuable habitat for our indigenous and fascinating animals, insects and plants. A last remnant of the Garden of Eden.

Unstoppable Invaders - The Red Imported Fire Ant | Wildlife Documentary Watch 'Praying Mantises - Deadly Killers of the Insect World' here: https://youtu.be/YBt6s7CHFQA Fire ants are several species of ants in the genus Solenopsis. They are, however, only a minority in the genus, which includes over 200 species of Solenopsis worldwide. Solenopsis are stinging ants, and most of their common names reflect this, for example, ginger ants and tropical fire ants. Many species also are called red ants because of their light brown color, though species of ants in many other genera are similarly named for similar reasons. Examples include Myrmica rubra and Pogonomyrmex barbatus. The bodies of mature fire ants, like the bodies of all typical mature insects, are divided into three sections: the head, the thorax, and the abdomen, with three pairs of legs and a pair of antennae. Fire ants of those species invasive in the United States can be distinguished from other ants locally present by their copper brown head and thorax with a darker abdomen. The worker ants are blackish to reddish and their size varies from 2 to 6 mm (0.079 to 0.236 in). In an established nest these different sizes of ants are all present at the same time. Although most fire ant species do not bother people and are not invasive, Solenopsis invicta, known in the United States as the red imported fire ant (or RIFA), is an invasive pest in many areas of the world, including the United States, Australia, China and Taiwan. The RIFA was believed to have been accidentally introduced to these countries via shipping crates, particularly with Australia when they were first found in Brisbane in 2001. These ants have now since been spotted in Sydney for the first time. They were believed to be in the Philippines, but they are most likely to be misidentified for Solenopsis geminata ants. In the US, the FDA estimates that more than US$5 billion is spent annually on medical treatment, damage, and control in RIFA-infested areas. Furthermore, the ants cause approximately $750 million in damage annually to agricultural assets, including veterinarian bills and livestock loss, as well as crop loss. Over 40 million people live in RIFA-infested areas in the southeastern United States. It is estimated that 30–60% of the people living in fire ant-infested areas of the US are stung each year. RIFA are currently found mainly in subtropical southeastern USA states including Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and parts of North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and California. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe Free Documentary - Nature Channel for free: http://bit.ly/2mFDC3Q Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentaryNature #Documentary #Ants ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bring high-class documentaries to you on youtube for free.
