Without Tariffs, We'd be a third world country, Trump Says
President Donald Trump says he will ask the Supreme Court for an expedited ruling on a federal court decision that said many of his tariffs were illegally imposed. “We’re going to be going to the Supreme Court, we think tomorrow, because we need an early decision,” Trump said Tuesday in the Oval Office. “We’re going to ask for an expedited ruling.” -------- More on Bloomberg Television and Markets Like this video? US Shoots Out Drug Boat From Venezuela, Trump Says
President Donald Trump said the US military targeted a boat carrying drugs from Venezuela, touting the administration’s success after deploying naval vessels to the Caribbean as part of a push to stop narco-trafficking. “These came out of Venezuela — and coming out very heavily from Venezuela. A lot of things are coming out of Venezuela. So we took it out, and you’ll get to see that after this meeting is over," Trump said in the Oval Office on Tuesday. -------- More on Bloomberg Television and Markets Like this video? Kraft Heinz to Separate Into Two Publicly Traded Companies

Kraft Heinz to Separate Into Two Publicly Traded Companies
Kraft Heinz Co. said Tuesday it plans to split into two separate companies, undoing a mega-deal ushered in a decade ago that turned the maker of Kraft Mac & Cheese into one of the largest packaged food sellers in the world. Following the breakup, one company will be made up of its Heinz Ketchup and other iconic condiments and boxed meals — a unit that currently generates $15.4 billion in sales. The second firm will include the slower-growing grocery products such as Oscar Mayer hot dogs and Lunchables, which currently generate revenue of $10.4 billion. The company had foreshadowed this move, and its shares were little changed following the announcement. The stock was down about 21% in the 12 months through Friday’s close. The aim is to siphon off lagging grocery staples into a new entity, allowing its faster-moving products more room to run and management to better focus on growing each side of the business. The company said the split will occur through a tax-free spinoff, and the companies’ names will be determined later. “The complexity of our current structure makes it challenging to allocate capital effectively, prioritize initiatives and drive scale in our most promising areas,” said Miguel Patricio, Kraft’s current chairman. “By separating into two companies, we can allocate the right level of attention and resources to unlock the potential of each brand.” -------- Watch Bloomberg Radio LIVE on YouTube Weekdays 7am-6pm ET WATCH HERE: http://bit.ly/3vTiACF Follow us on X: https://twitter.com/BloombergRadio Subscribe to our Podcasts: Bloomberg Daybreak: http://bit.ly/3DWYoAN Bloomberg Surveillance: http://bit.ly/3OPtReI Bloomberg Intelligence: http://bit.ly/3YrBfOi Balance of Power: http://bit.ly/3OO8eLC Bloomberg Businessweek: http://bit.ly/3IPl60i Listen on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with the Bloomberg Business app: Apple CarPlay: https://apple.co/486mghI Android Auto: https://bit.ly/49benZy Visit our YouTube channels: Bloomberg Podcasts: https://www.youtube.com/bloombergpodcasts Bloomberg Television: https://www.youtube.com/@markets Bloomberg Originals: https://www.youtube.com/bloomberg Quicktake: https://www.youtube.com/@BloombergQuicktake

China’s Xi Redraws Geopolitical Map With Embrace of Putin, Modi
President Vladimir Putin appears to have secured a diplomatic win he has sought for years, with a massive pipeline deal that would tie Russia and China together for decades and could redefine the global gas trade. The head of Russia’s Gazprom PJSC, speaking to Russian media in Beijing, said the gas giant has signed a legally binding agreement to build the long-anticipated Power of Siberia 2 pipeline to China via Mongolia. While Beijing has yet to confirm the details, securing any advance in the project is a diplomatic coup for Putin as Moscow grapples with the impact of Western sanctions. Bloomberg's Tyler Kendall reports. -------- Watch Bloomberg Radio LIVE on YouTube Weekdays 7am-6pm ET WATCH HERE: http://bit.ly/3vTiACF Follow us on X: https://twitter.com/BloombergRadio Subscribe to our Podcasts: Bloomberg Daybreak: http://bit.ly/3DWYoAN Bloomberg Surveillance: http://bit.ly/3OPtReI Bloomberg Intelligence: http://bit.ly/3YrBfOi Balance of Power: http://bit.ly/3OO8eLC Bloomberg Businessweek: http://bit.ly/3IPl60i Listen on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with the Bloomberg Business app: Apple CarPlay: https://apple.co/486mghI Android Auto: https://bit.ly/49benZy Visit our YouTube channels: Bloomberg Podcasts: https://www.youtube.com/bloombergpodcasts Bloomberg Television: https://www.youtube.com/@markets Bloomberg Originals: https://www.youtube.com/bloomberg Quicktake: https://www.youtube.com/@BloombergQuicktake

Trump says troops could go to Chicago next
President Donald Trump violated federal law by deploying National Guard troops and US Marines to carry out local law enforcement in Los Angeles over the summer as protests raged against his immigration crackdown, a judge ruled. This means federal troops can't be used anywhere in California for law enforcement. But Trump is now threatening to send troops to Chicago where 58 people were shot over this past weekend. Rick Davis and Jeanne Sheehan Zaino discuss on "Balance of Power." -------- More on Bloomberg Television and Markets Like this video?
