Newly released camera-trap footage captured in the Santa Rita Mountains just outside Tucson, Arizona, reveals a jaguar that scientists have been tracking for three years. The jaguar—known locally as ""El Jefe,"" which translates to ""the Boss""—is the only one currently known to inhabit the U.S. The species, which is classified as near threatened by IUCN, hasn't been widely spotted in the Southwest since the late 19th century. Two mountain lion kittens were recently discovered in the Santa Monica Mountains. The male and female kittens, known as P-46 and P-47, are the third litter from their mother, P-19, which biologists have been tracking since 2010. Biologists say it's a positive sign to see kittens on the outskirts of a developed area, though the young lions will face numerous challenges to their survival, including highway traffic and competition from other mountain lions. Henrietta Treyz, Co-Founder at Veda Partners, discusses political inflection points in the Iran war and reacts to President Trump's comments as he claims he'll postpone strikes for five days. US President Donald Trump postponed threatened strikes against Iranian energy infrastructure and power plants for five days, pending the outcome of what he said were talks with Iran to end the 24-day war. Both sides are keen to “make a deal,” he told reporters on Monday, adding that there are already “major points of agreement.” The chief goal remains stopping the Islamic Republic from having a nuclear weapon, he said.  Iranian media was quick to pour cold water on Trump’s claims, which were first aired in a social-media post. The semi-official Fars news agency reported that there hasn’t been “direct or indirect communication” with the US leader.
