London's Tate Modern is presenting a major retrospective of the Sudanese painter Ibrahim El-Salahi, considered one of the most important exponents of African and Arab Modernism. The exhibition, called Ibrahim El-Salahi: A Visionary Modernist, was by the Museum for African Art in New York in collaboration with the Tate Modern. BBC Africa's Sophie Ikenye went to see the show. Unlike autos or agriculture, North America’s energy trade does not function as a single, integrated three-country system. Instead, it operates through two powerful bilateral relationships: Canadian oil flowing south into US refineries and American natural gas powering Mexico’s economy. Howard Energy Partners CEO Mike Howard says roughly 70% of Mexico’s energy comes from the United States, while former Canada Energy Regulator CEO Gitane De Silva notes that about 60% of US oil imports originate in Canada. Liberia has been marking ten years since the end of its civil war. More than a quarter of a million people died during the conflict, in which former president Charles Taylor was a key player. He is now in prison at the Hague for war crimes committed in neighbouring Sierra Leone. Ghana's former president John Kufuor who helped broker Taylor's removal from Liberia and into exile, says the country has overcome much of the destruction.
