Ieasha Johnson aka the Hot Farmer Girl is a young female farmer, living in the Community of Lincoln in Manchester Jamaica. ieasha started farming after leaving high school, she wanted to go back to school, but her mother being a single parent and having 2 other children in school couldn't afford it, ieasha said she was encourage by a total stranger to choose a college to attend and then the said person gave her 2 bags of irish potatoes to set her off. She said her first havest was a total failure and she felt like just giving up, but she did not, she continued to farming while using the money she was making from the farm to open a shop and to help send herself to school. She attend Knox College where she did a associate degree in Business. Ieasha started to gradually expand her farm, to now having over 8 acres of a mixture of crops which includes Sweet potatoes, Irish Potatoes, Yams and Carrots. ieasha is an inspiration to community members who she has encourage and motivated to start farming to make a living for themselves. Ieahsa said "my mother is now farming as well because she was inspired by seeing my farms and how much I was achieving. Ieasha said even after having experience Praedial Larceny and failed crops she will be a farmer for the rest of her life. I visited Norman a few months ago and today am back to put a smile upon his face, seeing him working so hard on his farm and hearing him speaking so passionate about his music I felt inspired by his tenacity and drive, so its a pleasure to bring him these gifts. NORMAN SPENCE has not played a musical instrument over 30 years and so I decided to surprised him with a keyboard which was donated by a view that was touched by his story, he also received a brand new pair of rainboots and I donated cain and some cabbage sides. He is truly an inspiration. About Norman Spence This is Mr.Norman Spence aka Day Light, a totally blind but very gifted Farmer, Prolific Singer/Song Writer-Musician living in Kilmarnock St.Elizabeth Jamaica. Mr. Norman Spence was born in the community of Kilmarnock in St.Elizabeth, he was born with 2020 vision but developed eye problems at the age of 9-11 by the age of 12 he was completely blind, Mr.Spence explained that at age 11-12 he had to leave the sighted primary school he was attending to vegin a new journey at the Salvation Army School For The Blind In Kingston Jamaica became blind, where he attended up until age 18, he graduated with 10 Subjects and a certificate in Music, however, after he left the institution he took up farmer as he told me, he believed that he could be of service to his nation by providing food for his people. He has been farming since then. he has been farming as a blind man for over 37years navigating his way on his farm, planting and harvesting his crops effortlessly. Currently he farms crops such as Cabbages, Sweet potatoes, green bananas, plantains, corns and Carrots. Kenya’s Masaai community are using a clever technique to reap big rewards in the fight against climate change. Little ‘half moons’ dug into farmland – otherwise known as ‘water bunds’ - capture rainwater, allowing it to sink into the ground instead of washing away. And that means seeds can actually take root and vast areas of land can once again turn green. Maasai conservationist Lanoi Meitiekini explained to the BBC how it works.
