PCOS to PMOS: Will a name change improve treatment? | The Conversation | Focus on Africa
PCOS affects an estimated 170 million women worldwide during their reproductive years, yet as many as 70% of those affected remain undiagnosed, according to the World Health Organization. Experts hope that will change following the condition’s recent renaming to Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), a term they say better reflects its impact on the whole body, not just the ovaries. So what is it like to live with the condition? Focus on Africa podcast host Nkechi Ogbonna spoke to 35-year-old Bianca Chenai from Zimbabwe and 25-year-old Ghanaian Juliana Naa Dede, who have been living with PMOS from a young age. 00:00-00:33 Coming Up 00:38-01:48 Renaming PCOS 01:48-02:31 Meeting the PMOS warriors 02:31-04:08 Understanding PMOS 04:09-05:00 Why it took long to rename PCOS to PMOS 05:01- 09:01 Naa’s and Bianca’s journey with PMOS 09:02-11:58 Naa’s journey to diagnosis 11:59-19:05 How PMOS has affected their relationships 19:05-20:38 How PMOS affect fertility? 20:39-23:20 Will the new name help with diagnosis and treatment? 23:21- 24:40 What they wish the world knew about living with PMOS 24:41-25:48 Closing Presenter: Nkechi Ogbonna Producers: Fana Negash and Basma El Atti Video Editor: Simon Mbai Senior Producer: Priya Sippy and Carolyne Kiambo Jotham Editors: Charles Gitonga and Maryam Abdalla #pcostopmos #bbcafrica #focusonafrica Subscribe: http://bit.ly/subscribetoafrica Website: https://www.bbc.com/africa Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bbcnewsafrica/ Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/bbcafrica/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bbcafrica/

Daily Devotional | Do We Love Everyone? | 2 Timothy 1:7 | Pastor Jim Cymbala
Join Pastor Jim Cymbala for today’s daily devotional from 2 Timothy 1:7. In this devotional, Pastor Cymbala gives practical application regarding brotherly love. We Christians are commanded to love everyone: other believers, those against us, and everyone in between. So why do we try to separate our churches by skin color, age, or political affiliation? Let’s start living on earth as it is in heaven—there won’t be different sections for different races there, just love for God our Father. Don’t miss a single daily devotional with Pastor Cymbala! From Coast to Jungle: The Wild World of Guyana | Extra Long Documentary
In the remote landscapes of Guyana, rainforest, savannah, and coastline converge to create one of South America’s most diverse wildlife frontiers. Along the country’s long Atlantic coast, mangrove forests and brackish swamps provide a refuge for sea turtles, hoatzins, and the unusual four-eyed fish that thrives where rivers meet the ocean. Further inland, pristine rainforest covers most of the country, sheltering an astonishing variety of wildlife. Jaguars stalk through dense vegetation, giant otters patrol winding rivers, and high in the canopy the powerful harpy eagle watches over the forest while spider monkeys move cautiously through the treetops. On the riverbanks, black caimans share the waterways with fish-hunting otters, while the surrounding jungle teems with life. Beyond the rainforest, vast savannahs stretch across the southwest of Guyana. Here seasonal rains transform the landscape as rivers overflow and grasslands become a network of shallow lakes. In this changing world, animals have adapted to survive: the cock-of-the-rock performs its spectacular mating dance in the forest islands of the savannah, and the powerful anaconda glides silently through flooded ponds in search of prey. From coastal wetlands to ancient rainforest and flooded savannah, Guyana reveals a living mosaic of ecosystems where water, wildlife, and wilderness are deeply intertwined. White Woman Stole Black CEO's First Class Seat — Then FROZE When She Said 'I Built This Airline
Gabrielle Kennedy, founder and CEO of AirVista Airlines, regularly travels incognito to experience her airline's service firsthand. When entitled passenger Vanessa Mitchell questions Gabrielle's right to sit in first class based solely on appearance, a confrontation ensues that transforms into a powerful lesson about prejudice and dignity. Watch as Vanessa's assumptions lead to her public humiliation when she discovers she's been trying to remove the very woman who built the airline from nothing. This story examines workplace discrimination, unconscious bias, and how assumptions about who belongs in premium spaces reveal more about the person making judgments than their target. ## Key Moments: - Vanessa Mitchell challenges Gabrielle Kennedy's right to seat 1A in first class - Gabrielle maintains remarkable composure despite escalating harassment - Flight crew gets involved when Vanessa physically grabs Gabrielle - Vanessa threatens airline staff with her industry connections - Senior flight attendant recognizes Gabrielle as the CEO - The dramatic moment Gabrielle reveals her true identity - Vanessa's stunned reaction when she realizes her catastrophic error - Gabrielle transforms the incident into an industry-wide training protocol - Three months later: The Kennedy Protocol changes airline culture A powerful reminder that sometimes the people told they don't belong in certain spaces are exactly the ones who built those spaces. #BlackCEO #FirstClass #AirlineStory #UnconsciousBias #WorkplaceDignity #PrejudiceBackfires #Aviation #IdentityReveal #ViralJustice #PowerfulWomen #CEOStory #KnowYourWorth All stories here are fictional and made for entertainment.
