Across the world, diagnoses of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder - or ADHD - are rising, including in Africa. While it is estimated that around 7% of children and adolescents are living with ADHD on the continent, doctors in Nigeria and Kenya told Focus on Africa that there has been a surge in diagnoses over the past few years. This is partly down to an explosion of information about the condition on social media. But medical professionals also warn that misinformation online is fuelling self-diagnosis.
