BREAKING: The Secrets Behind Jamaica's Bauxite Boom (What They Won't Tell You)
🚨 BREAKING: What we discovered about Jamaica's bauxite industry will shock you. For 70 years, this small island has been hiding a toxic secret worth $561 million—and the cost is being paid in human lives. 🔍 In this investigation, we expose: → Why Jamaica sells its land for only $3 per ton (while others charge $15) → The 200 million tons of toxic waste poisoning water supplies → How only 0.4% of Jamaicans benefit while everyone pays the price → The 60,000 acres of destroyed land (visible from space) → Why children near mines miss 42 school days per year → The 99-year colonial contracts still controlling Jamaica today This isn't just about Jamaica. This is about what happens when profit matters more than people. This is about the real cost of the aluminum in your soda can, your smartphone, your car. 📊 SHOCKING STATISTICS REVEALED: - Jamaica: $3/ton royalty vs Guinea: $15/ton vs Australia: $6-8/ton - 60 cents of every dollar earned LEAVES Jamaica immediately - Agriculture employs 14% of workforce, bauxite employs 0.4% - Communities near refineries: 200% higher asthma rates - Aluminum levels in water: 4X WHO safety limits - Only 20% of mined land has been reforested (and poorly) - 99-year leases signed during colonial rule STILL active 🌍 THIS AFFECTS YOU: Every aluminum product you use—from beverage cans to aircraft—comes from bauxite. But the communities mining it pay with their health, land, and future. This documentary connects your daily life to invisible suffering happening right now. 💬 DISCUSSION QUESTIONS: - What would a fair deal for Jamaica look like? - Should countries be able to renegotiate colonial-era contracts? - How do we balance economic development with environmental protection? - What responsibility do consumers have for extraction impacts? Sugar Apple and Atemoya Season in South Florida andSeptember Fruit Tour
Sugar apple and Atemoya season is here! season is here! **I've been corrected, but knew this. Gefner (often misspelled “Greffner”) is an atemoya (Annona × atemoya), not a sugar apple. And your red one, Kampong Mauve (aka Kampong Red), is a sugar apple (Annona squamosa). Nice combo to grow! In this video, I walk you through my sugar apple trees and share what it’s like growing them in South Florida. It’s now September, which is typically late in the tropical fruit season, and I’ll also show you what other fruit trees are producing right now. While many people love sugar apples, I’ll be honest about why I personally don’t love them as much as most people do, and I’ll share which fruit is the most abundant this time of year. In This Video You’ll See: My sugar apple trees in South Florid What tropical fruits are still in season in September Why I don’t love sugar apples as much as others The fruit that’s most abundant this time of year Backyard fruit tree growing tips If you’re growing fruit trees in Florida or thinking about adding sugar apple to your garden, this video will give you real-life insight and inspiration. #SugarApple #TropicalFruit #FloridaFruitTrees #BackyardFruit 🌳 Have a Fruit Tree Garden? Living in an Earth Fortress | Habitats of the World: Togo | Free Documentary Habitats of the World - Myanmar: https://youtu.be/W4tdE9v1hSI We journey to Northern Togo, where the rugged and picturesque landscapes of the Koufitigou region hold a hidden architectural marvel: the takienta. Known as “fortress houses,” these remarkable structures are the homes of the Batammariba people. Constructed from earthen materials like clay and mud, takientas are ingeniously designed to provide safety, comfort, and a connection to the spiritual beliefs of the community. Each takienta is a small fortress, with its thick walls, cylindrical towers, and intricately crafted rooftops. Beyond their practical purpose of defense, these homes are a reflection of the Batammariba's deep relationship with their land and traditions. The architectural designs tell stories of survival, ingenuity, and harmony with nature, while their unique aesthetic has made them an icon of Togo’s cultural heritage. This episode explores not just the structures themselves but also the people who build and inhabit them. Through conversations with local residents and a close look at the construction techniques, we uncover how the Batammariba have passed down this architectural wisdom across generations, creating homes that are as functional as they are symbolic. Join us as we step into the world of the takienta, a home like no other. #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #togo ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe to Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bringing high-quality documentaries to you on YouTube for free, with the latest camera equipment used by renowned filmmakers working for renowned production studios.
