Carl Lewis, one of the greatest track and field athletes of all time, was known for his exceptional abilities in the long jump. In this video, we take a look at his impressive performances at the Olympics between 1984 and 1996.
In 1984, Lewis won his first Olympic gold medal in the long jump. That year, he jumped an incredible distance of 8.54 meters, which at that time was a new Olympic record. His jump was so impressive that he beat the silver medalist by a whopping 34 centimeters.
Four years later, at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, Lewis set another new Olympic record. With an unbelievable jump of 8.72 meters, he secured his second gold medal in the long jump.
In 1992, at the Barcelona Games, Carl Lewis won the gold medal in the long jump again. His jump of 8.67 meters was not only his personal best, but also a new Olympic record.
Lewis ended his career at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, where he once again qualified for the final in the long jump. Although he did not perform his best at these games, he still won a bronze medal with a jump of 8.29 meters.
In total, Carl Lewis won 10 Olympic medals throughout his career, 9 of which were gold medals. His performances in the long jump at the Olympics were simply incredible and continue to stand as impressive records to this day.
