2026 Florida Freeze Aftermath | What Survived, What Didn’t & What NOT to Do Next
The 2026 Florida Freeze caught South Florida off guard, and many tropical fruit growers are now wondering what survived, what didn’t, and what to do next. In this video, I walk through my yard and multiple neighbors’ yards, checking mango trees, jackfruit, sapote, star apple, bananas, papaya, avocado, eggfruit, and other tropical and subtropical fruit trees after the cold event. We look at: Early signs of freeze damage How to do the scratch test to check if a branch is alive Why you should NOT prune or spray anything yet Which trees handled the cold best Which protection methods worked (and which actually caused damage) Wind damage vs cold damage Lessons learned from this rare South Florida freeze This is still very early after the freeze, and many trees take days or weeks to show their full response. For now, the most important advice is to wait, stay calm, and let the trees reveal what they’re going to do. I’ll also be visiting Tropical Acres Farms to get expert guidance on what steps (if any) should be taken next. If you experienced tree damage during the Florida Freeze, leave a comment and let us know: Your location Lowest temperature Which trees were affected 🌱 Remember: trees can be replaced — health and mindset matter most. 0:00 First signs of freeze damage and scratch test 0:30 Which trees took the worst hit 1:00 What NOT to do after a freeze 1:30 Waiting for expert advice before acting 2:02 Start of full yard walkthrough 2:30 Star apple and early damage signs 3:05 Black sapote cherry sapodilla survival 3:14 Mamey sapote fruit and leaf damage 3:42 Smaller plants and potted trees check 3:54 Large mango in pot survives 4:06 Trees left in ground that took damage 4:39 Mangoland walkthrough begins 4:44 Coconut banana mango papaya update 5:26 Mango seedlings and sour sap damage 6:07 Baby bananas manure protection 6:45 Sour sap likely a goner 7:14 Jackfruit black sapote and protected area 7:37 Plants brought indoors results 8:05 Papaya and banana recovery indoors 8:34 Avocado jujube and mango check 8:55 Neighbor yard overview 9:36 Angie tree damage check 10:03 Custard apple avocado survival 11:10 Scratch test demo explained clearly 11:55 Fire pit freeze protection method 12:33 Did fire pit help the mango tree 13:12 Bananas papayas and wind protection 14:07 Mamey sapote and fruit condition 15:02 Black sapote bulletproof performance 16:30 We dodged a big bullet overall assessment 17:24 Advice on pruning and waiting period 17:56 Back to Paul’s yard final condition 18:53 Worst damaged tree identified 19:45 Second neighbor young trees and buckets 20:37 Mulch and bucket protection method 21:11 Garage protection for potted plants 22:16 Bananas and leaf damage expectations 23:01 Ice cream bean loquat and allspice update 24:22 Wind damage worse than cold damage 25:20 Cloth protection mistake explained 26:11 Wind corridor effects on trees 27:16 Rare mango and fruit stress signs 28:41 Need for irrigation system discussion 29:12 Once in a lifetime freeze perspective 30:06 Covered vs uncovered tree comparison 31:22 Yard survived better than expected 32:04 Potted trees and garage heater results 33:45 Star apple damage comparison 35:24 Gummy worm fruit trees protection 36:50 Cloth touching leaves causes burn 38:00 Final advice do not prune yet 40:00 Wrap up lessons mindset and next steps 🌳 Have a Fruit Tree Garden? Apex Predators in Africa—But Lions Still Fear These Animals | Wildlife Documentary
Apex Predators in Africa—But Lions Still Fear These Animals | Wildlife Documentary : https://youtu.be/iXbyaxuvZQU They sit at the top of the food chain—but even lions know when to back down. In Africa, some animals command respect through power, intelligence, or sheer survival instinct. Lions are known as the kings of Africa’s savanna—apex predators feared by most animals. But in the wild, even lions have rivals they avoid, respect, or retreat from. In this Wildlife Documentary, we explore the surprising animals that lions still fear—not because of size alone, but because of strategy, strength, teamwork, and survival instincts shaped by millions of years of evolution. From massive herbivores that refuse to be hunted, to dangerous opponents that can injure or kill even a lion, this film reveals the hidden balance of power on the African savanna. ►Content Notice: This documentary is created for educational and entertainment purposes. The narration is generated using AI voice technology. Some visual scenes and thumbnail images may include AI-assisted enhancements or reconstructions, combined with real wildlife footage, to improve clarity and viewer experience. All representations are intended to remain faithful to real wildlife behavior and natural events, without fabrication or misrepresentation.
