Scuba divers off the coast of Turkey recently encountered a 13-foot-wide (4 meter) mass of clear goo containing millions of eggs, most likely laid by a red flying squid. These egg masses are rarely seen, as they're deep underwater and last for only a few days before the squid babies hatch and the mass disintegrates. Scientists aren't entirely sure how the masses get so big, but they think the giant size allows the eggs to spread out and receive oxygen, while the jellylike substance helps protect the eggs from infection, bacteria, and predators. Christopher Smart, Founder & Managing Partner at Arbroath Group, discusses politics in Hungary as a newly-elected Prime Minister takes the reins. He also discusses the ongoing conflict in Iran, and what next steps may be now that the latest round of peace talks between Iran and the US have failed. Peter Magyar accused outgoing Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto of destroying documents related to European Union sanctions as he pledged to put an end to the country’s cozy ties with Russia. The incoming prime minister and winner of the election said he had reports that Szijjarto was destroying documents at the foreign ministry in Budapest. He made the claims at a news conference on Monday, where Magyar said he’d work constructively with Brussels and unlock more than $20 billion in EU funds, which he called a priority. Magyar has said Hungary’s historic election, in which voters turned out in record numbers, was a mandate to steer Hungary back in the European fold.  “We understand he turned up at the foreign ministry at 10 a.m this morning,” he said of Szijjarto. “The ministry where Russian hackers were let into the computer systems, and they are shredding documents relating to sanctions.”   “That won’t be enough” to stop crimes being investigated, Magyar said. The pro-Kremlin foreign minister had become the face of Orban’s close relations with President Vladimir Putin, having traveled to Moscow more than a dozen times since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.  During the election campaign, leaked transcripts of phone calls showed Szijjarto had volunteered to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov his services to dilute EU sanctions against Russia. -------- More on Bloomberg Television and Markets Like this video? Tiny, invisible microplastics are entering our waterways straight from our washing machines. About 2,000 synthetic particles are released from washing a single polyester fleece jacket. All clothing items—including cotton and wool—shed micro-fibers when washed, but the natural fibers biodegrade. Synthetic particles don't degrade and can absorb toxins while traveling through the waterways.
