Iran War: Flareup of Violence Tests Ceasefire | Daybreak Europe 05/05/2026
Bloomberg Daybreak Europe is your essential morning viewing to stay ahead. Live from London, we set the agenda for your day, catching you up with overnight markets news from the US and Asia. And we'll tell you what matters for investors in Europe, giving you insight before trading begins. On today's show, the four-week ceasefire in the Middle East has been tested by a flareup of violence between the US and Iran. The American military fought off attacks from Iranian drones, missiles and armed small boats as it guided two US-flagged vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. UniCredit posted a record quarterly profit, strengthening CEO Andrea Orcel as he prepares to put his takeover bid to Commerzbank investors. But HSBC's first quarter profit missed estimates. Europe's biggest bank is putting money aside for credit losses and the impact of the conflict in the Middle East. Plus Bloomberg understands that Apple is exploring using Intel and Samsung to produce the main processors for its devices in the US. Doing so would offer a secondary option beyond its longtime partner TSMC. Today's guest: Sunaina Sinha Haldea, Raymond James, Global Head of Private Capital Advisory. Apple Considers Using Intel, Samsung to Build Device Processors
Apple has held exploratory discussions about using Intel and Samsung to produce the main processors for its devices in the US. According to people familiar with the deliberations, Apple had early-stage talks with Intel about enlisting the company's chipmaking services. Apple executives also made visits to a Samsung plant under development in Texas. The move would offer a secondary option beyond longtime partner TSMC. Bloomberg's Neil Campling explains. -------- More on Bloomberg Television and Markets Like this video? Treating Animals With Acupuncture | National Geographic
Horses have been receiving acupuncture for almost as long as people have—since the practice began in China some 2,500 years ago. As beasts of burden, horses were of tremendous value to the Chinese, and their health was almost as important as that of their owners. Today veterinary acupuncturists can treat nearly any animal, from a bear to a porcupine to a dog. Training courses, such as those from the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society, teach licensed veterinarians how to incorporate acupuncture into their practice. ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/NatGeoSubscribe About National Geographic: National Geographic is the world's premium destination for science, exploration, and adventure. It wasn't until the 1970s, however, that acupuncture's popularity began to take hold. Though limited studies qualify it as evidence-based medicine, those who practice acupuncture say that the effects can be explained in physiological terms. Veterinary acupuncture has been performed on both domesticated pets and zoo animals. The latter must be sedated while the needles are inserted, but most pets are accepting or unfazed.
