Star Fruit Taste Test: The BEST Varieties to Grow in Florida
Star fruit season is here in South Florida, and these trees can produce an unbelievable amount of fruit. In this video, I visit my neighbor’s incredibly productive star fruit tree and then taste several different varieties of carambola side by side to see which ones stand out for sweetness, flavor, texture, size and productivity. We taste varieties including Bell, Kari, Lara, Arkin, Kajang, Sri Kembangan and Fwang Tung, along with a few unidentified fruits. Some star fruit varieties are sweeter. Some are larger. Some have a better crunch. And some may be better choices if you only have room for one tree. One of the things I love most about star fruit is its production. These trees can fruit multiple times a year, and a mature tree can produce hundreds or even thousands of fruits. They also come into production at a great time of year when mango season is winding down. We also talk about: Which star fruit variety tastes best Which varieties produce the most fruit Bell vs. Kari vs. Lara star fruit How large star fruit trees get Growing star fruit in South Florida When star fruit is in season Whether you can multi-graft a star fruit tree Why supermarket star fruit often tastes disappointing Important cautions for people with kidney problems Why I am actually removing my own star fruit tree Even though I love this fruit and highly recommend growing it, limited yard space sometimes means making difficult choices. If you only had room for ONE star fruit tree, which variety would you plant? You can order Star Fruit in the mail right now from Lara Farms: Their website is: https://larafarmsmiami.com/ Leave your favorite variety in the comments. Prince Left NO Will… Who SECRETLY Inherited Paisley Park Will Shock You
Everyone knows Purple Rain — the album, the film, the halftime show in the actual rain, seven Grammys, and a musician so protective of his art he changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol. Almost no one knows the stranger story underneath it: the man who wrote "slave" across his own cheek fought Warner Bros. Records for two decades, clawed his master recordings back in 2014 — and then, two years later, died inside a 65,000-square-foot Chanhassen compound without ever signing a will. No trust. No instructions. Just a locked vault of thousands of unreleased songs, a catalog the courts would eventually value near $156 million, and the state of Minnesota left to decide who got the keys. The Grammys sit in a case. The masters keep earning. This is the ownership story of Prince Rogers Nelson — from a self-taught kid in Minneapolis to NPG Records, NPG Music Publishing, and holding structures most fans never knew existed — and why the man who owned everything he made never wrote down who should inherit it. 📘 Get THE EMPIRE PLAYBOOK — the 8 moves that separate the rich from the wealthy: https://payhip.com/b/QcSx8 The same wealth-building moves behind the empires on this channel, rebuilt into a system you can start this week, from exactly where you are. 31 pages. Instant download. Inside this video: Why Prince spent 20 years fighting Warner Bros. — and what "if you don't own your masters, your masters own you" really meant The 2014 deal that finally returned his master recordings to him — just two years before he died Inside Paisley Park: the 65,000 sq ft compound, the studios, and the vault of thousands of songs the public has never heard The real portfolio — master recordings, NPG Records, NPG Music Publishing, name/image/likeness, and acres of Minnesota land $82M vs $163M — why the estate's own bank administrator and the IRS were nearly $80M apart (plus the ~$6M undervaluation penalty) The ~$156M figure both sides finally agreed on in tax court — and why the music, not the mansion, was the crown jewel No will, no trust: how Minnesota intestacy law handed the estate to a sister and five half-siblings The 29 dismissed claimants — including a federal prisoner who was ruled out by a DNA test How Primary Wave quietly bought up half the heirs' interests — and the brother who died days after signing his share away Why the deeds and the catalog outlived the man who never named who should hold them We go deep on the wealth, power, and legacy of the Black community worldwide. The Prisoners Nobody Can Control | Prison System Out of Control | Free Documentary The Inmates We Fear Most - Inside a Maximum Security Prison for Murderers: https://youtu.be/ESC3uoTQJus Behind the walls of Britain’s prisons, a system is reaching breaking point. Using extraordinary footage filmed by prisoners themselves, this documentary investigates the crisis inside some of England’s most troubled jails. At HMP Birmingham, a small protest escalates into the country’s worst prison riot in 25 years, with hundreds of inmates loose, fires burning and officers struggling to prevent the entire prison from being overrun. But Birmingham is only part of the story. From chronic staff shortages and record levels of violence to widespread drug use, corruption and appalling living conditions, the investigation reveals the pressures pushing prisons towards chaos. Former officers, inmates and experts describe a system in which both prisoners and staff are increasingly at risk—and ask whether Britain has lost control of its prisons. This documentary first aired in 2018. #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #prison ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe to Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is passionate about sharing the beauty and diversity of our world through high-quality documentaries available for free on YouTube. #jamaica #jamaicanhistory #JamaicanFolklore Is "Duppy Church" in Jamaica Really Haunted? 92-Year-Old Hazel Joyce Gordon Tells the Real Story Deep in Mile Gully, Manchester, Jamaica sits a church locals call "Duppy Church" — also known as Church in the Wild Woods. Its real name is St. George's Anglican Church, and for decades, ghost stories and haunted church legends have surrounded this quiet, overgrown site on the road to the Comfort community. In this video, 92-year-old Hazel Joyce Gordon — who grew up in the area and attended the school once connected to St. George's Anglican Church — sets the record straight. She laughs off the duppy and ghost rumors and instead shares vivid childhood memories of the church, the community school, and life in rural Manchester, Jamaica generations ago. 13 Places in Trinidad You Should Never Visit Alone
You are not afraid of these places. You are afraid of how fast they can take someone who came alone. Trinidad has an asphalt lake two hundred and fifty feet deep that closes over anything that stands still, rip currents off Maracas that run up to two metres per second, and a single stretch of southeast coast that has taken at least fourteen lives since 2020. This is a small island, roughly 1,800 square miles, and every one of these places sits within an afternoon's drive of a city. Thirteen places, where being there alone is the danger. In this video, we explore: → The Devil's Woodyard near Princes Town, a mud volcano that erupted in 1995 and sits directly under a working Hindu shrine, on ground that moves without warning → Manzanilla, the long Atlantic beach where a father of two went under and was recovered 400 metres from where he was last seen standing → The Gasparee Caves off Chaguaramas, a tidal pool 85 to 100 feet underground where swimming is prohibited outright and access is by boat only → Rio Seco Waterfall in the Matura forest, a plunge pool about 25 feet deep that drowned two men within weeks of each other in June 2020 → Las Cuevas Bay, where the currents at the western end drowned a Coast Guard officer with roughly 20 years of service → The Piparo mud volcano, which threw mud and debris 200 feet into the air in 1997 and forced over 300 people from their homes → The Caroni Swamp, nearly 6,000 hectares of mangrove where spectacled caiman and anaconda move under the tour boats and the channels double back on themselves → Three Pools on the Marianne River, three deep basins that have taken at least four lives in five years → The Mayaro and Guayaguayare coast, one stretch of Atlantic beach and river mouth that recorded at least fourteen drownings between 2020 and 2024 → The Heights of Aripo below Trinidad's highest peak, the search ground that gave rise to the Hunters Search and Rescue Team → Paria on the north coast, where a body was recovered from the river in an operation that ran from 8:30 in the morning until 4:20 in the afternoon → Maracas Bay, the island's most crowded beach, where rip currents have been recorded close to two metres per second, faster than a person can swim against And at number one, the Pitch Lake at La Brea, the largest natural asphalt lake in the world. About 100 acres of black bitumen, reported to reach close to 250 feet deep at the centre, holding somewhere between six and ten million tons of pitch that never stops turning over. Most of the surface carries a person's weight, but there are soft spots, and the guidance is to walk only in a guide's footprints, because anyone who stands still on the wrong patch begins to sink into warm asphalt that does not let go. It has surfaced the bones of a giant ground sloth and the tooth of a mastodon, and it is open to visitors every day. Subscribe for more of the Caribbean's dangerous, forbidden, and forgotten places.
