We’re ready to GOES – are you? Join us to watch the launch of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) next weather observing and environmental monitoring system satellite. The satellite, currently known as GOES-T, will provide critical data to improve weather forecasting and to better track storms and other hazards. GOES-T is scheduled for liftoff at 4:38 p.m. EST (21:38 UTC) aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V 451 rocket to join our fleet of spacecraft monitoring Earth from space. There is a two-hour launch window. This launch is being managed by NASA’s Launch Services Program based at Kennedy Space Center. NOAA’s Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES) constantly monitor weather across the Western Hemisphere, as well as weather in space caused by activity from our Sun. This video captures highlights of our recent Horseback Riding Adventure with Chukka Adventures, the #RideAndSwim adventure! It was Dan and Samantha's first visit to Jamaica, but the core reason was that it was Samantha's birthday! And we had a ball! I was happy to host them on this amazing day tour, a full day tour comprising the Horseback riding, ATV buggy ride, zipline over the dunns river falls and of course, the Dunn's River Falls hike! But this was a treat! After the formalities, we took off on our horses, each with an music artiste's (both local and overseas) name. We were exceptionally lucky to be able to do it away from all the crowd, in fact, it was just the three of us along with the two guides, so that made our experience more personalized and engaging! On this trip, the horses we had were Rhino (my horse), Cherokee , Spice and Kartel. The other was Crisp, apparently an American rap group (I learned later). We rode the horses for about 30 minutes in the forest and across the seaside and then descended into the water, yes on the horses! But that was just the first round! The other leg of the adventure saw the guides taken Dan and Samantha on the horses, further into the sea, now with swimming gear yes, for what the guides called the 'Jet Ski!'. That' where the horses swim as well, but also perform stunts, tricks and stuff. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I did not do that leg of the adventure as I was not dressed for that, nor did I have a change of clothes (I was unaware of the full details of the trip) but I was able to see it from shore - amazing stuff, but not for the weak heart! If you are in Jamaica, I'd highly recommend something like this to do, something a little different from the regular stuff.
