Did You Know That These Insects live only for 12 days? These are common blue damselflies. And well as their uninspiring name tells you they are pretty common. You can find it all over Europe. They and also their bigger cousins - the dragonfly - are excellent fliers and have exceptionally good eyes. Also if you want to know if it is a damsel or a dragon look at their eyes. Dragonfly eyes meet in the middle of their heads. And as they only have 12 days to life - as an adult flying insect - there is one activity they are interested in: Fucking. To reproduce the insects form a mating wheel. Isn’t sweet it looks like a heart! Reality isn’t that romantic. They form this position so that the male can scoop out sperm of a rival male and leave his own. Once that is done, the female needs to lay her eggs underwater. And now to the truth: They life longer than 12 days.
