Go Wild
Fresh Salad - Wild Menu 7/26 - Go Wild
You could say the jungles and the forests are like a big salad bar, open to anyone who wants to try out some of the great variety of leaves they offer.
Here you can find fresh, raw vegetables, leaves of all kinds of diverse plant species to satisfy even the most demanding vegetarians' appetites.
But surprisingly few customers come to this restaurant for their daily meal. Eating leaves, as fresh and abundant as they may be, isn't for everyone.
Some animals are regular customers at the forest buffet. Their diet consists exclusively of what the “salad bar” has to offer, picking and choosing the ingredients for their favorite dish: a variety of leaves of different species of trees, ivies and bushes, sprouts, and some fruits and flowers.
Each leaf, each ingredient of their salad boasts its own unique flavor, texture, aroma and even its own poison. You have to be careful when making salad in the forest, or you may suffer from a bad case of indigestion, or even a dangerous case of food poisoning.
The salad-lovers of the animal world know just which species of plant to eat. Some of them are true experts in just a few species, which are the only species they feed on. Others, however, love to try out and feast on dozens of different species, choosing from the freshest treats when they're in season.
Despite the substantial food offering, of the untold tons of different types of leaves the forests and jungles offer, only a few animals dare eat them. Insects are actually their biggest fans. They're the ones who are best adapted to breaking them down, swallowing them and digesting them.
