13 Forbidden Places in Montserrat You're Not Allowed To Visit
Montserrat has a Georgian capital city buried under metres of volcanic ash and sealed behind a government line that has not moved in more than 20 years, a hilltop recording studio where the Rolling Stones cut the last album ever made there, now collapsing behind a locked fence, and a farming village where 19 people died in under 20 minutes on a single Wednesday morning. Two-thirds of the island is a sealed exclusion zone. Almost none of it can be legally visited. In this video, we explore: → A protected rainforest reserve in the Centre Hills, the one forbidden place on the island the volcano never touched. Last refuge of the national bird and a frog now close to extinction, where it is an offence to cut a single tree above a set elevation. → A farming village on the eastern flank that the pyroclastic flows ran straight through to the sea in 1997. It sat beside some of the oldest Amerindian sites on the island, all of it now sealed in the south. → The heart of Montserrat's Irish-Catholic settlement, the reason it is called the Emerald Isle of the Caribbean. Emptied by the flows, while the island still throws the only national St Patrick's Day festival outside Ireland. → Three stretches of ocean where boats may pass in daylight but are forbidden to stop or anchor. With almost no traffic for years, the reefs have grown back into some of the healthiest in the eastern Caribbean. → The island's wealthiest suburb, abandoned in the 1990s and never reoccupied. The government has offered people money to rebuild there, and almost no one has taken it. → A hill closed to the public for more than 30 years, reopened only by permit. One of the few points from which the buried capital can still be seen in full, the whole dead grid laid out below. → The luxury hotel that housed the musicians recording on the island, abandoned mid-operation with the ledger reportedly still open at June 1995. Its great pool is now a sunken garden, its lower floors filled to the ceiling with mud. → The farming districts on the northern flank where, on a Wednesday morning in June 1997, 19 people were killed in under 20 minutes. They were the only lives the eruption took, every one of them still named in the island's records. → A 70-foot waterfall, a field of boiling sulphur springs, and a sugar plantation studied by archaeologists for two and a half centuries, buried together under a single run of volcanic flow in March 1997. → The volcano itself, silent for roughly 400 years before it woke in 1995. Its lava dome has since grown taller than the peak it buried, and no one is permitted within three miles of the summit. → The island's only airport, its runway swallowed whole in a single afternoon. It is still visible from a safe-zone lookout, while its replacement in the north was built with a runway a fraction of the length. → The hilltop studio George Martin built, where Dire Straits, the Police and the Rolling Stones recorded before Hurricane Hugo closed it in 1989. It is decaying now behind a locked fence, never reopened. And at number one: Plymouth, a Georgian capital city on the southwest coast, buried under metres of ash and mud and sealed behind a boundary that has not moved in more than 20 years. The roof of its church and the top of its old clock tower still rise above the grey, and satellite images still show the street grid clearly, a city-shaped pattern under volcanic deposit. It is the only abandoned city on earth that remains the official capital of its territory, and entering it without a police escort is a criminal offence. Writers who reach the boundary keep calling it a modern Pompeii: a whole town stopped mid-sentence. THE LOWEST COUNTRY IN EUROPE THAT NEVER SINKS - The Surreal Beauty of the Netherlands | Travel video
#travelvideo #exploretravel #netherlandstravel Most countries adapt to nature. The Netherlands chose a different path—reshaping its own geography to survive. With large areas lying at or below sea level, this small European nation has spent centuries battling the sea, creating one of the most remarkable stories of human ingenuity in the world. This journey explores a land defined by water. From colossal sea barriers and massive dikes to an endless network of canals, the Netherlands has transformed vulnerable wetlands into thriving cities, farmland, and communities. Every reclaimed polder and engineered waterway reflects a long history of determination, innovation, and adaptation. Beyond its world-famous engineering, the Netherlands offers a rich cultural landscape shaped by centuries of trade and maritime influence. Historic towns, iconic windmills, busy ports, and picturesque canals reveal how closely Dutch history is connected to the water that surrounds it. Here, water is not just part of the scenery—it has influenced settlement, commerce, architecture, and daily life for generations. Many people associate the Netherlands with tulip fields and charming canals. Yet the country’s most fascinating story lies beneath the surface. It is the story of a nation that continuously pushed back the sea, created new land, and built one of the most sophisticated water management systems ever developed. 00:00 Intro 01:50 Giethoorn – The Quiet Canal Village Without Roads 04:33 Keukenhof – Europe’s Most Colorful Spring Garden 06:59 Kinderdijk – Where Windmills Defend the Land from Water 09:32 Zaanse Schans – A Living Village of Historic Windmills 11:50 Middelburg – A Historic Port Shaped by Dutch Trade 13:57 Groningen – A Vibrant Northern City of Towers and Canals 16:20 Amsterdam – The Canal Capital of the Netherlands 18:27 Utrecht – A Medieval City Built Around Two-Level Canals 21:01 Delft – The Birthplace of Iconic Blue and White Pottery 23:18 Texel – A Windy Island of Dunes and Lighthouses 25:50 Maastricht – One of the Oldest Cities in the Netherlands 27:42 Nijmegen – A Roman City with Centuries of History 30:06 Den Bosch – A Medieval Town Hidden Above Waterways 32:18 Urk – A Traditional Fishing Village by the IJsselmeer 34:33 The Hague – The Political Heart of the Netherlands 37:11 Rotterdam – The Netherlands’ Bold City of Modern Architecture 39:33 Alkmaar – Home of the Famous Dutch Cheese Market 41:56 Leiden – A Historic University City of Canals and Knowledge 43:59 Haarlem – A Charming Dutch City of Art and Tulips 46:14 Naarden – A Perfect Star-Shaped Fortress Town 48:09 Arnhem – A Riverside City Marked by World War History 50:44 Dordrecht – The Oldest City of Holland’s River Delta 53:22 Leeuwarden – A Northern City of Canals and Leaning Towers 56:05 Den Helder – The Naval Gateway to the North Sea 58:04 Amersfoort – A Medieval City with a Rare Water Gate 01:00:34 Volendam – A Traditional Fishing Village Full of Dutch Culture 01:02:35 Outro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

North Carolina | The Coastline Americans Keep Skipping | Travel Documentary 4K
North Carolina travel documentary in 4K covers 23 destinations across the state, a cinematic journey through coastline, mountains, and historic towns that reveals why North Carolina sightseeing draws travelers back year after year. This North Carolina travel guide moves through barrier islands, colonial ruins, wildlife refuges, mountain forests, and city neighborhoods, capturing the full geographic range that most road trips never reach. The coastline alone tells a story that gets skipped far too often. Hit that subscribe button — it's completely free and really motivates me to create more content: https://www.youtube.com/@PathfindersTravel-YT?sub_confirmation=1 The journey along the North Carolina coast opens in Wilmington, a port city with deep colonial roots, before heading to Brunswick Town, where the ruins of an 18th-century settlement sit quietly on the Cape Fear River. Fort Macon State Park delivers Civil War-era fortifications and open Atlantic shoreline, while Hatteras Village anchors the southern edge of the Outer Banks, one of the most geologically active barrier island chains in the country. Outer Banks travel takes in the shifting dunes of Cape Hatteras National Seashore and the legendary Graveyard of the Atlantic. Inland from the coast, the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge shelters red wolves and black bears in a vast pocosins landscape rarely seen on travel itineraries. The route then moves through Raleigh and Durham, two cities reshaping North Carolina's cultural identity, before reaching Greensboro, where civil rights history is preserved alongside a growing arts scene. The Blue Ridge Mountains region brings the documentary into a different world entirely: Boone sits at over 3,000 feet elevation, Valle Crucis hosts one of the oldest general stores in the country, and Blowing Rock offers views across the Johns River Gorge. Pisgah National Forest and Great Smoky Mountains National Park anchor the western section, with Asheville serving as the cultural center of mountain North Carolina. Lake Norman, Maggie Valley, Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, DuPont State Recreational Forest, and Whiteside Mountain round out a journey that covers the state more thoroughly than most North Carolina travel guides attempt. 📍 Chapters: 00:00 Wonders of North Carolina 02:32 Wilmington 05:21 Brunswick Town 07:53 Fort Macon State Park 10:17 Hatteras Village 12:58 Outer Banks 16:13 Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge 19:12 Emerald Village 21:37 Blue Ridge Mountains 24:58 Raleigh 27:45 Durham 30:38 Greensboro 33:05 Boone 35:50 Valle Crucis 38:35 Blowing Rock 41:36 Pisgah National Forest 44:50 Great Smoky Mountains National Park 47:41 Asheville 50:41 Lake Norman 53:28 Maggie Valley 56:01 Lake Lure and Chimney Rock 58:50 Charlotte 61:22 DuPont State Recreational Forest 63:57 Whiteside Mountain 🎬 Watch Next: • Wonders of Alaska | The Most Amazing Places in Alaska | Travel Documentary 4K: https://youtu.be/2oFr1dlEdtM • Montana: Is This the ONLY State Where You Can Buy a MOUNTAIN? | Travel Documentary 4K: https://youtu.be/UE-07SBegPY • Oregon | Is This the Most ALIEN Landscape in America? | Travel Documentary 4K: https://youtu.be/8vbk69xwBtk 🌍 https://pathfinders-travel.com #PathfindersTravel #NorthCarolina #OuterBanks #TravelDocumentary
