Guyana’s New Mega-Airport Is Finally Here.

Caribbean Journey
Guyana’s New Mega-Airport Is Finally Here.
Guyana just did something that most of the Caribbean and most of the world didn't see coming. And it started from the sky. In 2015, ExxonMobil confirmed one of the largest offshore oil discoveries of the 21st century in Guyana's waters. By 2022, the country recorded 62% GDP growth the highest of any nation on Earth that year. By 2024, Guyana had welcomed over one million international arrivals and surpassed one million passengers through its main airport for the first time in history. But this video isn't about the oil. It's about what Guyana decided to build with it. While the Caribbean has been operating on the same aviation infrastructure model for decades built around beach tourism and leisure travel Guyana quietly committed hundreds of millions of dollars to building a completely different kind of network. Not one airport. A system. Each facility serving a different market, a different type of traveler, a different economic function. This documentary covers the full picture: → Cheddi Jagan International Airport: The $150M+ rehabilitation, the runway extension, the inline baggage systems, the commercial center now 80% complete, and the new 150,000 sq ft arrivals terminal under construction by UK firm Mowlem Group in partnership with Manchester Airport Group contracted to handle up to 2.5 million passengers annually. → Eugene F. Correira Airport (Ogle): Being repositioned as Guyana's executive and private aviation hub, with helicopter taxiways, new hangars, rapid customs clearance, and facilities built specifically for the oil industry's high-frequency business travelers. → Lethem Aerodrome: The border town on Guyana's southern frontier with Brazil that the government is now transforming into a full international airport a potential air trade corridor between the Caribbean coast and one of South America's largest economies, with direct routes already established to Boa Vista and Manaus, Brazil. → The Interior Airstrip Network: Dozens of small regional strips across Regions 1, 7, 8, and 9, receiving multi-billion Guyanese dollar rehabilitation budgets connecting indigenous communities, mining operations, and ecotourism lodges that have historically had no reliable air access. We also address the resource curse directly — Nigeria, Venezuela, Angola and examine whether Guyana's visible, contracted, in-progress infrastructure investment represents a different outcome, and what risks remain. The Caribbean built what it needed for the economy it had. Guyana is building what it needs for the economy it is becoming. The investment gap between the two is structural, not cosmetic and it is already reshaping how airlines, investors, and the tourism industry think about this region. If you follow Caribbean economics, infrastructure, or oil industry development, this is the most complete breakdown of Guyana's aviation transformation available on YouTube. Subscribe to Caribbean Journey for in-depth economic and infrastructure coverage across the Caribbean and South America. We are building toward 100,000 subscribers and your support keeps this reporting coming. This Once-in-a-Lifetime Sperm Whale Recording Changed Science Forever | Not a Biologist
What does it look like when a sperm whale is born? 🐋 Terra Mater sat down with David Gruber, marine biologist, President & Founder of Project CETI (Cetacean Translation Initiative), to talk about one of the most extraordinary moments ever caught on camera: the first-ever filmed sperm whale birth. In this episode of Not a Biologist, host Alex and David break down the incredible footage frame by frame: the mother (named Rounder) is helped by her family holding up the newborn whale, pilot whales arriving as unexpected witnesses, and one subadult male named Alan who showed up and did... not very much. But this episode goes far beyond the birth itself. David explains what Project CETI has learned after six years of building the world's largest non-human communication database, millions of sperm whale vocalisations, codas and clicks, and what their groundbreaking AI-powered research is revealing about sperm whale language, culture and society. African Survival: The Mistakes That Turn Hunters into the Hunted | Wildlife Documentary
African Survival: The Mistakes That Turn Hunters into the Hunted | Wildlife Documentary : https://youtu.be/AtiMOLsDJjw In the wild, few encounters are as intense as mongoose vs cobra. This is a true predator vs prey battle where lightning-fast movement collides with one of nature’s deadliest weapons: venom. In this wildlife documentary, we explore the brutal balance between instinct, timing, and survival when speed and venom meet in the natural world. A cobra relies on precision, intimidation, and a venomous strike that can end a fight in seconds. A mongoose survives through reflexes, agility, and fearless timing. But this is never a simple contest. One missed step, one mistimed attack, or one moment of hesitation can completely change the outcome. That is what makes this clash one of the most fascinating and dangerous survival stories in wildlife. This episode reveals how mongooses read movement, how cobras defend themselves, and why predator-prey encounters in the wild are often decided by split-second decisions. More than just a fight, it is a story about adaptation, risk, and the fine line between attack and survival. Watch more on Claw Wildlife for cinematic wildlife stories about predator vs prey, dangerous animal encounters, survival tactics, venom, rare animal behavior, and the hidden rules of the natural world. ►Content Notice: This documentary is created for educational and entertainment purposes. He’s back on track and the family is here to support!!
Just another day with the Powells. ❤️ In today’s vlog we headed out to support Asafa at Drag Rivals, spent some time together as a family, and brought you guys along for the day. We also wanted to give you a quick update on the container home project we’ve been working on through our GoFundMe. After some delays at the wharf due to how busy it’s been, the container is finally off and ready. It’s now being prepared so that when it’s time to deliver, the process will be much smoother. They’ll also be installing lights inside. As many of you know, whenever we deliver a container home we try to make sure the family has the essentials to start over. That includes beds, bedding, towels, sheets, solar generators, food items, and other basic supplies. Behind the scenes we’ve still been clearing shipments and organizing everything needed, and let me tell you, you quickly learn how all of those things add up. We’ve identified two moms in need, and one of their living situations is especially heartbreaking. She is currently living in a foul coop. Our goal is to deliver the container to St. Elizabeth soon so she and her family can have a safe place to live. Thank you to everyone who has supported, shared, or donated. Your help truly makes this possible. If you would like to support or share the GoFundMe, the link is below. Together we can change someone’s life. https://gofund.me/a2b127497

Sudan: Surviving a Broken Nation | Free Documentary
Sudan: Surviving a Broken Nation | Free Documentary Namibia - A Country Divided: https://youtu.be/msQmULCjSoA Sudan, ancient Nubia, is home to many unique natural and archaeological treasures. This land of the black pharaohs has even has more pyramids than its famous neighbour, Egypt – yet there are no visitors, no tourists, and no foreign travellers. Cut off from the rest of the world, Sudan, a former save haven for international terrorists, is now one of the most unstable countries on the planet. Since gaining independence in 1956, the country has experienced 18 coup attempts. After thirty years under the military-Islamist dictatorship of Omar al-Bashir, Sudan experienced a brief period of democracy in 2019. This was short-lived however, as the country was subject to a new coup which bought General al-Burhan and his military junta to power in October 2021. Since then, Sudan has been completely closed off from the rest of the world. Every week, thousands of citizens gather around the country to protest coup d’état – and women are the face of this revolution. They yearn for freedom after years of suffering under military dictatorship and sharia law, where they were routinely flogged and humiliated. One women explained her involvement in the fight for freedom, “We distribute these paint cans around the neighbourhood to announce our protests and we will write slogans in favour of the revolution”. By spraying these words of dissent around the city, these women risk prison and torture. Although the protesters know that they will be fiercely repressed and try to protect themselves the best they can, they can only make do with temporary shields and plastic helmets. Nothing to shelter them from the live bullets shot by the army – which even target doctors and young children. All the while, they run the risk falling victim to the relentless arbitrary arrests. The political crisis has also worsened the economic situation with inflation rate running at 380%. Even before the coup, Sudan was one of the poorest countries in the world, now however, even middle-class people are finding it increasingly difficult to survive. More than two million city-dwellers have left to seek their fortune in the desert just to get by. There, they hope to find a few nuggets of gold to change their life… #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #sudan ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bringing high-class documentaries to you on YouTube for free with the latest camera equipment used by well-known filmmakers working for famous production studios.
