Beauty and Bloodshed | Mozambique: A Nation on Edge | Free Documentary Sudan - Surviving a Broken Nation: https://youtu.be/obySpxYXzfw Mozambique’s national flag features a kalashnikov rifle; a symbol of the country’s tragic history. After winning independence from Portugal, a disastrous civil war followed, which dragged on for seventeen years. More than a million people died before peace accords were agreed in 1992. Mozambique has tried to move on from its violent past, but recently insurgents have caused tensions to flare in the north of the country, which is majority Muslim. Some jihadist groups have allied themselves with ISIS and several thousand fighters have spread terror through the region. As a result, more than 3000 people have died, and 800,000 have been displaced. The Rwandan army, the most battle-seasoned troops on the African continent, were called in to help and in just a few weeks they succeeded in retaking Caliphate strongholds. But the peace is fragile, and poverty, injustice and corruption feed the conflict. Refugees have been stuck in camps for over a year, suffering from severe shortages of the most basic necessities. Mozambique is one of the poorest countries in the world. Yet it has an extraordinarily rich heritage, including a World Heritage Site of colonial treasures from the era of Portuguese rule. And another treasure – gas reserves. Huge gas deposits were discovered in the north, but, due to the threat of jihadists, all plans are on hold for the moment, including the interest from French group Total Energy. Mozambique is also rich in rubies. We gained exclusive access to the biggest ruby mine in the world. Every day hundreds of tons of earth are sifted in search of precious gems. Rubies, gas reserves, pristine beaches… and jihadists. Mozambique is a country torn between its rich natural resources, and the ever-present threat of armed conflict. #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #mozambique ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe to Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is passionate about sharing the beauty and diversity of our world through high-quality documentaries available for free on YouTube. Roxy Music: Live at Manchester 1979 | On The Road Live | Full Live Show
*Roxy Music: Live at Manchester 1979 | On The Road Live | Full Live Show* - When Roxy Music began recording their first album in 1971, they created something that was identified as Art Rock. By the end of the decade, with the charismatic Bryan Ferry, Phil Manzanera and Andy McKay they had also mastered a soulful dance sound that when added to the mix can be seen and heard here on great versions of In Every Dream Home a Heartache, Love is the Drug and Virginia Plain. How did a group of eccentric, fashion-forward art school students completely alter the trajectory of rock music in the 1970s? In the spectacular archival concert experience Roxy Music Live, we trace the legendary evolution of a band that defied genres, starting from their avant-garde beginnings in 1971 to the smooth, sophisticated groove that took over the end of the decade. When Roxy Music dropped their debut album, they introduced the world to "Art Rock"—a wild, future-shocked blend of glam style, rock-and-roll foundations, and experimental electronics. Led by the mesmerizing, tuxedo-clad charisma of Bryan Ferry, alongside the sonic genius of guitarist Phil Manzanera and saxophonist/oboist Andy Mackay, the band underwent a breathtaking transformation. By the late '70s, they had masterfully fused their experimental edge with a smooth, soulful dance sound that dominated charts globally. This film captures the band at their performance peak, delivering spine-chilling, definitive live versions of their greatest masterpieces—including the eerie brilliance of "In Every Dream Home a Heartache," the proto-disco infectiousness of "Love is the Drug," and the high-energy glam classic "Virginia Plain." Join us as we recap this timeless celebration of pure musical innovation!
