Trading During a Global Economy Shift
Financial Times columnist and coauthor of the new book "How to Win a Trade War" Soumaya Keynes joined Bloomberg This Weekend to discuss the evolving nature of global trade conflicts. Drug Kingpin Pablo Escobar’s Hippos Are Alive and Well | National Geographic
Hippos are thriving in Colombia, more than 30 years after their arrival. In the 1980s notorious Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar brought the hippos to Colombia for his private ranch. The hippos thrived in an environment similar to their native lands, and today there's a healthy population in the region. But while the hippos are a welcome sight to many, they can also be a nuisance. The massive animals can be seen wandering through city streets and even chasing locals. Cornrare, the Colombian environmental agency that cares for the animals, has recently tried curbing the population through castration. ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/NatGeoSubscribe About National Geographic: National Geographic is the world's premium destination for science, exploration, and adventure. Rep. Mike Lawler: I Support Continuing to Arm Taiwan
Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) joined Christina Ruffini and David Gura this morning on Bloomberg This Weekend for a wide-ranging discussion, including President Trump's impending decision to approve a $14 billion US arms sale to Taiwan, which could unleash a bipartisan backlash in Washington or face Beijing's wrath if the deal is approved. Xi Jinping warned that Taiwan could lead to "clashes" between the US and China, calling it a "highly dangerous situation" for the world's biggest economies. -------- More on Bloomberg Television and Markets Like this video? The Man Behind the Bucket: Making Self-Portraits From Trash | Short Film Showcase
German artist Thorsten Brinkmann is a self-proclaimed serial collector. He works primarily with items from resale shops and junkyards, incorporating the found objects into his photography and site-specific installations. Wearing a trash can for a helmet and a fabric scrap for a vest, he is suddenly transformed into a seemingly noble character that mimics the style of paintings done by the old masters. In this short from Walley Films, watch how Brinkmann creates these whimsical self-portraits for his latest show at the Rice University Art Gallery in Houston, Texas. What China Understands About AI and Energy That the US Doesn’t
As the United States and China compete for dominance in artificial intelligence, energy is emerging as a critical battleground. Former Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson warns that while the US still leads in AI technology, electricity shortages could become a major constraint as data center demand surges. Former US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns says China’s enormous investments in transmission, renewables, batteries, and power generation are already reshaping global supply chains, while Hoover Institution senior fellow Elizabeth Economy argues Beijing’s clean-energy strategy is as much about economic and geopolitical power as climate policy. Together, their assessments point to a growing reality: the AI race may depend not just on chips and software, but on generating enough power to sustain the technology. -------- More on Bloomberg Television and Markets Like this video? The quest to climb Hkakabo Razi in the remote area of northern Myanmar was conceived by Hilaree O'Neill and Mark Jenkins and their yearning for an "anti-Everest" expedition. In the fall of 2014, Hilaree O'Neill, the expedition leader, and Mark Jenkins, Cory Richards, Renan Ozturk, and Emily Harrington set out to climb this formidable peak and determine whether it is the highest peak in Southeast Asia by standing on top with a GPS. What followed was a demanding journey full of setbacks that would push these five climbers to their limits emotionally, physically, and mentally. Hear Hilaree O'Neill talk about this epic expedition and being taken to "the point of no return."
