Can a Bird Kill a Human? 🔪 SPOILER: This ONE Did! 🪶
Could a bird kill a person?
(Spoiler alert: This one did.)
Meet the cassowary, a big bird that recently made the news by taking a swim in the ocean. These birds are no joke. They can weigh as much as a person and have claws that are almost a foot long. When they attack, they jump and strike with those sharp claws. People have seen them kicking doors and breaking glass – like something out of a scary movie.
But we got everything wrong. They’re not breaking windows just to attack us; they’re basically seeing their reflection and thinking it's another cassowary, not the brightest, I know. And we also messed up. People started giving them food. Now, when cassowaries see humans, they expect a snack. That's when most of the attacks happen. A researcher found that our feeding habits changed how cassowaries act. Oops.
Oh, and it's true about the bird killing someone, but it only happened twice. The first time, the bird was being hunted, and the second time, it was kept in captivity. So, there was a reason behind it.
