Former CIA Spy: How to Read Anyone, Think Clearly, and Protect Yourself

Mel Robbins
Former CIA Spy: How to Read Anyone, Think Clearly, and Protect Yourself
Today, a former spy and the former Chief of Disguise for the CIA is taking you inside the heart-pounding world of espionage and the secret life she lived working undercover for 30 years. Jonna will share the tactics and strategies you need to read anyone and spot a liar, offer a powerful warning about the state of the world today, and give you practical wisdom to find courage and face life’s hardest moments. For decades, Jonna helped intelligence officers assume new identities, disappear in plain sight, and carry out high-risk operations. Jonna created disguises convincing enough to fool the President of the United States and the Secret Service. Together, Jonna and her late husband, Tony Mendez, co-authored the bestselling book Argo about the CIA operation he led - the true story that inspired the Academy Award-winning film Argo. But what makes this conversation so powerful is not just the spy stories. It is Jonna’s deeply personal reflection on courage, reinvention, trust, loss, and what it means to keep going when life feels scary or uncertain. In this episode, you’ll learn: - Why courage does not come first and how confidence and preparation create it - How to stay calm under pressure - What 30 years in the CIA taught Jonna about trusting your intuition - The signs that someone may be trying too hard to convince you of a lie - Why direct eye contact is not the lie detector most people think it is - How Jonna would change the smallest details to make someone disappear in plain sight - Why you are never starting over when you make a major change - How to stop underestimating yourself and aim higher - Why nothing meaningful is accomplished alone - How taking small steps can help you face problems that feel too big to solve Jonna will tell you that courage is not something you either have or you do not. It comes from knowing what to do, preparing yourself, and confronting the things that scare you. After today, you'll understand how to build confidence, trust yourself under pressure, and have the courage to reinvent your life…at any age. The U.S. Just Seized Control Of Jamaica's Rare Earth Minerals... And The World Is Watching

Caribbean Journey
The U.S. Just Seized Control Of Jamaica's Rare Earth Minerals... And The World Is Watching
The United States just committed nearly a billion dollars to a refinery it cannot run without one small Caribbean parish and Jamaica's own government just told Parliament the minerals underneath it all may still legally belong to Jamaica, even after they've already left the island. This is the real story behind America's gallium supply crisis, the Pentagon's billion-dollar bet on Louisiana's last operating alumina refinery, and the century old waste product sitting in Jamaican bauxite ponds that has quietly become one of the most important pressure points in the U.S. —China minerals rivalry. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS VIDEO: Why the U.S. has only one operating alumina refinery left, and why it depends entirely on Jamaican bauxite. What gallium is, why the Pentagon considers it a national security priority, and why America currently produces almost none of it domestically. How red mud, a waste byproduct ignored for a hundred years, became worth fighting over. Why Jamaica's mining minister told Parliament that royalty obligations may follow exported material across international borders. The difference between Geophysx Jamaica's scientifically documented rare earth findings and a separate, far less substantiated claim from a NASDAQ-listed company. How this dispute connects directly to Jamaica's bauxite community development programs, scholarships, and infrastructure. Why Jamaican remittances and diaspora investment are directly tied to how this legal question gets resolved. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: What is gallium and why does the U.S. military need it? Gallium is a trace mineral used to make gallium arsenide and gallium nitride, materials essential to radar systems, semiconductors, and military electronics. Over eleven thousand U.S. defense components depend on it, and the United States currently produces almost none domestically. Why does the U.S. depend on Jamaica for this? The only operating alumina refinery left in the United States, Gramercy in Louisiana, runs entirely on bauxite imported from Jamaica. That refinery's waste byproduct, red mud, is now understood to contain significant gallium and rare earth concentrations. Has Jamaica actually seized any minerals or shipments? No. As of this video, nothing has been seized. Jamaica's government has stated a legal position, based on its Mining Act and Crown Property Vesting Act, that royalty obligations may extend to exported material. This position has not yet been tested in court, and Jamaica's Attorney General has not yet issued a formal opinion. SOURCES REFERENCED IN THIS VIDEO: Statements and figures from Jamaica's Minister of Mining, Floyd Green, delivered during the May 13th, 2026 Sectoral Debate in Jamaica's House of Representatives. Public statements from Bobby Stewart, founder of Geophysx Jamaica, given at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada convention, March 2026. Disclosed investment figures from the U.S. Department of Defense, Concord Resources, Pinnacle Asset Management, and Element USA regarding the Gramercy refinery investment program. Public reporting on Royalty Management Holding Corp and TR Mining and Equipment's July 2025 announcement. Publicly disclosed partnership terms between Barrick Gold and Geophysx Jamaica, and between Freeport McMoRan and C3 Metals. Research from the Caribbean Policy Research Institute on Jamaican remittances and diaspora economic contribution. Jamaica's Crown Property Vesting Act and Mining Act, as referenced in Parliamentary proceedings. DISCLAIMER: This video is produced for educational and informational purposes only. Diving Monkeys | Monkeys That Use Tools
Diving Monkeys - On a remote island in the Andaman Sea, a remarkable discovery has changed what scientists thought they knew about animal intelligence. A population of macaques has developed the ability to use stone tools to open shellfish, revealing surprising insights into evolution, behavior and the relationship between animals and their environment. Stone Tool Monkeys (2021) Director: Nicolas Brown Writers: Nicolas Brown Stars: Amanda Tan, long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis) Genre: Documentary, Nature, Wildlife, Science Country: France Language: English, French Also Known As: The Tool-Using Monkeys Release Date: 2021 Filming Location: Piak Nam Yai Island, Andaman Sea, Thailand Produced by: Nomades TV Broadcasters: arte Synopsis: During a biodiversity survey conducted after the devastating 2004 tsunami, scientists discovered something extraordinary on the island of Piak Nam Yai in the Andaman Sea: a population of macaques using stone tools to crack open molluscs. Tool use has long been associated with great apes such as chimpanzees, but these long-tailed macaques surprised researchers by developing sophisticated hammering techniques of their own. Primatologist Amanda Tan investigates this remarkable behavior and studies how these monkeys have mastered the coastal environment. The research reveals an unexpected twist: the macaques have become so efficient at harvesting shellfish that they may be exhausting their own food supply. This rare case of non-sustainable resource use by a non-human species offers fascinating insights into evolution, intelligence and the delicate balance between animals and their ecosystems. Jamaica's Most Brutal Rebellion Against British Rule | The Maroon Wars

Jamaica's Most Brutal Rebellion Against British Rule | The Maroon Wars
This video chronicles the history of escaped slaves in Jamaica who established free communities and resisted the British Empire. Their fight for freedom led to peace treaties that influenced revolutions across the Caribbean, deeply impacting "african people" and shaping "black history." The narrative highlights rebellion, betrayal, and the enduring resistance of those who refused to accept slavery, a pivotal "slave revolt" against the "slave trade," ultimately securing their "freedom." But that's only part of the story. From Nanny of the Maroons, who freed over 1,000 enslaved people and whose face now appears on Jamaica's $500 bill, to Samuel Sharpe, whose Christmas Rebellion accelerated the abolition of slavery across the British Empire, to the political battles that led to independence in 1962, Jamaica's history is a story of resistance that changed the world. This documentary covers: ► The Spanish period and what happened to the Taíno people after 1494 ► How escaped slaves became the Maroons when the British invaded in 1655 ► Nanny of the Maroons and her 30-year fight for freedom ► The First Maroon War and the historic 1739 Treaty ► The tragic Second Maroon War and deportation to Nova Scotia ► Samuel Sharpe and the Christmas Rebellion of 1831 ► Paul Bogle and the Morant Bay Rebellion of 1865 ► Marcus Garvey, Bustamante, and Norman Manley ► The 1961 referendum that collapsed the West Indies Federation ► Independence Day: August 6, 1962 The Maroon communities still exist today. They still hold lands from the 1739 treaties. And their story deserves to be told. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🔔 Subscribe to Platinum Pulse for more Caribbean history, culture, and development content: https://www.youtube.com/@platinumpulse?sub_confirmation=1 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ SOURCES & REFERENCES: Historical Sources: - Jamaica Information Service (jis.gov.jm) - Official Government of Jamaica - National Library of Jamaica (nlj.gov.jm) - Jamaica National Heritage Trust (jnht.com) - U.S. Office of the Historian - Historical Documents on Jamaica Independence - Encyclopedia Britannica - Jamaica History - BlackPast.org - African American & African History - Encyclopedia.com - Nanny of the Maroons - University of Miami Scholarly Repository - Maroons in Jamaica - Harvard University Cyber Archive - Maroon History & Treaties - Cambridge University Press - International Review of Social History - Penn Museum Expedition Magazine - Guerrilla Warfare in 18th Century Jamaica - King's College London Collections - Second Maroon War Archives - Taylor & Francis Online - "From Violence to Alliance: Maroons and White Settlers in Jamaica" - Yale University Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery Primary Treaty Documents: - Articles of Pacification with the Maroons of Trelawney Town, March 1, 1739 - National Library of Jamaica Treaty Archives Books Referenced: - Campbell, Mavis C. Nature's Moments
Lion vs Buffalo | Africa's Deadliest Battles | FULL EPISODE | Wildlife Documentary
Lion vs Buffalo | Africa's Deadliest Battles | FULL EPISODE | Wildlife Documentary is a breathtaking nature animal documentary that reveals a truth the wild rarely admits: survival does not always belong to the strongest, but to the ones brave enough, or strange enough, to be different. Through cinematic footage and educational storytelling, this documentary travels from the golden plains of the African savanna to the volcanic shores of the Galapagos, following creatures that broke every rule of the wild and lived anyway. A snow white lion that cannot hide yet still rules through the power of the pride. A stripeless zebra that survives on pure speed and vigilance. And an entire archipelago of animals that evolution reshaped into something the world has never seen anywhere else. On the savanna you will witness a lioness pride hunt using camouflage against the motion dazzle of a zebra herd, the sacred white lions of Timbavati whose coat strips away their disguise, and Tira, the stripeless zebra of the Masai Mara. Then the story crosses the Pacific to the Galapagos, where a giant tortoise has watched two centuries pass, a marine iguana dissolves its own bones to survive starvation, a cormorant has traded the sky for the sea, and a single green sea turtle hatchling in a thousand runs a gauntlet of crabs, frigatebirds and tiger sharks to carry an entire lineage forward. Epic Moments in This Documentary: The rare white lions of Timbavati that survive without camouflage Tira, the stripeless zebra that became the most visible target in the herd A marine iguana that shrinks its own skeleton to survive El Nino The flightless cormorant that gave up the sky to conquer the sea Darwin finches that radiated into thirteen species from one lost flock A giant tortoise that has lived since the days of Charles Darwin One green sea turtle hatchling in a thousand fighting its way to the sea The footage presented contains raw scenes of nature and animal predation. Viewer discretion is advised as we observe these pure natural survival instincts. #NatureAnimalDocumentary #ourplanet #WildlifeDocumentary #AfricanSavanna #natgeo #planetearth #AfricanWildlife #naturesmoments
