My Heart Will Go On
Jack attends Doug’s funeral. When Jack returns to Hope Valley, Elizabeth can tell that Jack is deeply saddened. Later that night, Doug’s mother gives Jack Doug’s St. Christopher medal. Jack tells Doug’s mother that he feels responsible for Doug’s death.
The next morning, Cody comes up with an idea to help Elizabeth, and Lee and Jack talk about Jack’s future. Later - The children of Hope Valley present Elizabeth with ‘good letters’ they wrote to negate the ‘bad letter’ that made her unable to teach. Elizabeth is touched. Later - Jack and Elizabeth look at the letters, and Jack tells Elizabeth about his intentions to go to the Northern Territories. Elizabeth is shocked - but their conversation is interrupted when Francine arrives at the door.
At the mayor’s office, Francine finally reveals that she has evidence to back up Elizabeth’s story about Mr. Higgins. Wyatt objects, but Elizabeth’s job as teacher is restored.
Jack asks Frank for guidance on his decision to go to the Northern Territories. Elizabeth overhears this conversation and confronts Jack about his decision to leave. Jack pleads with Elizabeth, but she runs off. That night Elizabeth seeks council from Abigail. Elizabeth gets a note from Jack saying that he wants to “take a walk with her.” Outside, Jack proposes to Elizabeth. Elizabeth accepts. There is a small celebration in Jack and Elizabeth’s honor - but Jack has to leave early the party to get ready to leave Hope Valley the next day. The next day Jack says good bye to the people of Hope Valley, and rides off to fight in the Northern Territories. Later - at the Hope Valley Music Festival, Elizabeth shows up, and sings a song, culminating her feelings on Jack’s departure.
