Rebekah first appears when Abraham sends his servant to find a wife for Isaac. The servant travels to Abraham’s relatives and asks God for a clear sign. At a well, Rebekah arrives and offers water not only to the servant but also to his camels. Her generosity becomes the answer to the servant’s prayer. Soon, Rebekah is asked to make a life-changing decision: leave her family, travel to a distant land, and marry a man she has never met. She agrees. That decision places her directly inside the family through which the covenant promise would continue. When Rebekah meets Isaac, their marriage begins one of the most important family stories in Genesis. But like Sarah before her, Rebekah faces years without children. Isaac prays for her, and eventually she becomes pregnant with twins. The pregnancy is difficult, and Rebekah seeks God for an explanation. She is told that two nations are within her and that the older will serve the younger. That word becomes central to everything that follows. Esau is born first, followed by Jacob. As the brothers grow, the family becomes divided. Isaac favors Esau, while Rebekah favors Jacob. This difference in affection creates tension that eventually reaches a breaking point. Just 6 years ago, my life looked very different than it does right now…and I have a video to prove it. I was turning 52 and starting over. Everything in my life had changed all at once.
