Only about one lion cub in five lives to see a second birthday. In this film, the cub meets every reason why. An African rock python, sixteen feet of muscle with heat sensors along its lips, waiting in the tall grass. A leopard in the Valley of the Leopard, where their density ranks among the highest in Africa. A river holding one of the densest Nile crocodile populations on Earth, where the cub learns to drink the Luangwa way: fast, eyes never leaving the water. A buffalo herd that holds a grudge and walks straight toward its oldest enemy. And the most dangerous enemy of all, the one the statistics point to — close to a quarter of all cub deaths are tied to rival lions taking over a pride.
