The Brooklyn Tabernacle

God has brought the Brooklyn Tabernacle from a handful of members in a small rundown building in a difficult area to a congregation of more than ten thousand weekly attendees. Pastor Cymbala and his wife, Carol, who directs the popular Grammy Award–winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, have been used by the Lord not only to preach the gospel in the inner city of New York but also to see new churches grow out of the congregation across New York as well as domestically and internationally. The ministry of the church has from the outset reached out to the cross-cultural melting pot of New York City. It is comprised of men, women, and children of all ethnic and national origins. Central to the growth and expansion of the church, however, has been the continual emphasis on prayer, from the Tuesday night prayer meeting that is attended by thousands to the prayer band, made up of members of the church devoted to boldly calling on the Lord for needs from around the world.

Jesus endured great pain—and as His followers, we will suffer too. But what a glorious encouragement it is to know that God is with us! A Spiritual Tragedy | Pastor Jim Cymbala | Sunday Service | The Brooklyn Tabernacle
Many disasters start with little things—a disagreement, a slip-up, an inflated ego—and end in tragedy. Our actions always have consequences! Samson saw this when a relationship he never should have pursued caused him to break his covenant with God. Every choice we make either draws us nearer to God or pushes us farther away. No matter how far we drift, God always helps us when we sincerely call on Him! Praise Him for His goodness! He challenges us to pray at night—during those moments when we should be sleeping but we’re wide awake instead. Sometimes our sleeplessness is the Lord prompting us to get us praying and spending time with Him. While the world’s asleep, we can make a difference for the kingdom of heaven by praying for others. Jesus made something very clear: in this life, we will have pain. Just because we’re Christians doesn’t mean we’ll escape hardships; it means we have God Almighty to run to and trust in when those hard times come. Pain is not a punishment—it’s an invitation for us to experience God more. The choice of how we react to pain is completely up to us. God is always good—even when our circumstances aren’t. Join Pastor Jim Cymbala for today’s daily devotional from Psalm 119:121–128. New Testament Christians do not have to abide by all the Old Testament laws—for example, we’re free to eat pork and shellfish, and we don’t have to make sacrifices in the temple. We also shouldn’t pray for the destruction of our enemies as Old Testament authors did! But it takes discernment to understand these matters. When we study the Bible, we must ask the Holy Spirit for understanding. He’ll always help! Don’t miss a single daily devotional with Pastor Cymbala! Bitterness a Deadly Poison | Reverend Philip Kwiatkowski | Sunday Service | The Brooklyn Tabernacle
When we are hurt, it’s imperative that we learn to forgive and let go. Being bitter is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to be affected! Forgiving others does not excuse their behavior or diminish our pain; rather, it frees us to heal. We only hurt ourselves further by holding onto unforgiveness. By the grace of God, let’s forgive others. What we receive from the Scriptures, however, offers spiritual guidance for our daily choices and actions—what not to say, where to go, how to react. Pastor Jon Tyson | The Lord’s Hand Upon Us | The Calling Conference | The Brooklyn Tabernacle
When the hand of God is on us, anything is possible. The spiritual landscape may be dry around us, but the Lord chose for us to live exactly at this moment in time. God has put us here as leaders in the kingdom because the stakes are high, the moment matters, and God wants to move in ways that we cannot comprehend. If enough believers come together and call for the hand of the Lord to come upon the church again, our future will not be one of spiritual poverty—it will be one of abundance and harvest and salvation. When God called you, He knew exactly what challenges you would face, and He prepared His grace to be sufficient for you. Without God’s grace, our callings are nothing but work, but when God’s grace shows up, there is power—the lost are saved, the sick are healed, the discouraged are encouraged, the doubting are filled with faith. It’s not by might or power but by God’s Spirit. We were called into God’s amazing grace, and now we are called to stand in that grace in whatever calling the Lord has placed on our lives. Christians aren’t supposed to be angry at other believers—but sometimes we are. Unmet expectations and betrayals lodge in our hearts and lead us to harbor resentment or bitterness. But when we’re angry at another person, we’re actually angry at God. The pain is real, but let’s lay it aside and put it at God’s feet. He has given us everything! We have no right to be angry. Let’s ask God for forgiveness and give Him the worship He deserves. Christianity is more than explaining the Bible—it’s knowing the living Christ. That’s why preaching isn’t about telling people what they want to hear or merely sticking to a planned series of messages. Pastors need to know what God thinks about given situations for given people at given moments in time so they can give God’s people the remedies they need. “Is not my Word like fire?” says the Lord. Let’s listen to God’s heart so we can speak His word today. 1 Corinthians 14:1–5 1 Corinthians 5:9–13 Jeremiah 23:9–11, 13–18, 21–22, 25–29 Recorded at the Brooklyn Tabernacle on Friday, September 26, 2025 Stay Connected: https://brooklyntabernacle.org https://instagram.com/thebrooklyntabernacle https://facebook.com/TheBrooklynTabernacle https://facebook.com/PastorJimCymbala https://x.com/jimcymbala Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir: https://youtube.com/@bt_choir https://instagram.com/bt_choir Daily Devotional with Pastor Cymbala: https://www.youtube.com/@TheBrooklynTabernacle?sub_confirmation=1 The Calling Series for Pastors and Leaders with Pastor Cymbala: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL16gcevGRKHJrOLazA5Ml5B9-Dd8Spwnr Give: https://brooklyntabernacle.org/giving Request prayer: https://brooklyntabernacle.org/prayer Said yes to Jesus? https://www.brooklyntabernacle.org/grow-2/first-steps/ #TheCallingConference #JimCymbala #CarolCymbala #BrooklynTabernacle #BrooklynTabernacleChoir The Calling Conference | Burning Words | Joyful Praise | anointed preaching | Holy Spirit | worship | praise | singing | choir | music ministry | Brooklyn | New York City | Pastor Jim Cymbala | Carol Cymbala

Daily Devotional | No Coming Back | Psalm 119:89–96 | Pastor Jim Cymbala
Join Pastor Jim Cymbala for today’s daily devotional from Psalm 119:89–96. In today’s devotional, Pastor Cymbala asks us, “Where would you rather be today: on earth, fighting the devil, or in heaven with God?” As believers in Christ Jesus, this should be an easy question! The Bible promises that we’re going to heaven if we’re saved. When our time on earth is through, there will be no coming back or reincarnating—just instantly facing our Savior. Hallelujah for that!
