The Brooklyn Tabernacle

God has brought the Brooklyn Tabernacle from a handful of members in a small rundown building in a difficult area to a congregation of more than ten thousand weekly attendees. Pastor Cymbala and his wife, Carol, who directs the popular Grammy Award–winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, have been used by the Lord not only to preach the gospel in the inner city of New York but also to see new churches grow out of the congregation across New York as well as domestically and internationally. The ministry of the church has from the outset reached out to the cross-cultural melting pot of New York City. It is comprised of men, women, and children of all ethnic and national origins. Central to the growth and expansion of the church, however, has been the continual emphasis on prayer, from the Tuesday night prayer meeting that is attended by thousands to the prayer band, made up of members of the church devoted to boldly calling on the Lord for needs from around the world.

Prayers of Influence | Pastor Roderick Caesar III | Tuesday Prayer Meeting | The Brooklyn Tabernacle
Sometimes when we face unexpected losses or uncertainty in our lives, we tend to lose assurance of God’s provision. Yet by trusting the Lord, staying intimate with Him, and maintaining momentum to seek Him while enduring the trial, His powerful influence over our lives becomes greater than our circumstances. Let’s humbly ask the Lord to intercede, believing that He will. Which of your friends brings you closer to Jesus? Good friends are a blessing from God, bringing comfort and spiritual refreshment to our lives. We may also have friends who do not know the Lord, but we can intercede through prayer and ask Him to grant them an encounter. Let’s be encouraged that God hears our prayers when we walk by faith, knowing that He will move. Join Pastor Jim Cymbala for today’s daily devotional from 2 Timothy 1:7. In this devotional, Pastor Cymbala gives practical application regarding brotherly love. We Christians are commanded to love everyone: other believers, those against us, and everyone in between. So why do we try to separate our churches by skin color, age, or political affiliation? Let’s start living on earth as it is in heaven—there won’t be different sections for different races there, just love for God our Father. Don’t miss a single daily devotional with Pastor Cymbala! It can be hard to change when we have old habits, traditions, and desires in the way. It is like a building—reconstruction is difficult with existing clutter, rather than starting from a clean foundation. God cleanses us of the rubble so He can build His purpose within us. We’ve all been tempted to make decisions that aren’t best for us. When we feel uneasy about a choice we’re facing, it may be God’s way of saying, “Don’t do it!” But our heavenly Father has a purpose and direction for every area of our lives. If we truly want to walk in His will, we must continually be led by His Spirit.
