A Glimpse of Heaven
Journey into the heart of the City of Lights to discover the first American church established on foreign and ultimate symbol of the United States in Europe. Affectionately known the world over as "ACP", the American Church in Paris is not only a melting pot like no other but has earned the appellation: "God's own United Nations". Experience true-life stories of people such as a refugee from Nigeria; an expatriate who feared ending up in a mental institution; and many more. There are multi-national couples, lonely students, residents of Paris, plus scores of visitors who found help, hope, and better lives through ACP. A Multi-faceted mission with many outreach programs, including on that serves lunch to the homeless and another that helps refugees seeking asylum, The American Church in Paris is also a major community center. It provides space and resources for an impressive variety of international community activities and groups. More than 2,000 people use the facilities each day. From among the 54 nations and 35 different denominations that make up the congregation of ACP, parishioners from all walks of life finally reveal what they have found in this large, beautiful sanctuary along the Seine river. If heaven is going to be populated by people from every nation and tribe and culture and language on the planet, then the American Church in Paris truly does off a glimpse of heaven. Yet, as the oldest American church on foreign soil is about to celebrate its 150th anniversary, its council is faced with serious challenges: the rise in the number of parishioners; increasing difficulties in finding funds for badly needed renovations and maintenance; not to mention recent rising tensions between the different ethnic communities. Will this highly symbolic landmark, so rich in history, be able to continue on and keep alive the best of American ideals and values? Director : Eric Ellena

US Briefly Names Alibaba, Baidu as Firms Aiding China’s Military
The Pentagon added Alibaba, BYD, Baidu and TP-Link Technologies Co. to a list of companies that aid the Chinese military – before withdrawing it minutes later without explanation. The moves on Friday roiled shares of the affected listed companies and left analysts wondering about the administration’s intentions. If the list is reposted, they said it would be a show of strength ahead of President Donald Trump’s expected trip to China and meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in April. The updated list, which the US Federal Register a short while later declared “unpublished,” also removed two of China’s champions in production of memory chips, ChangXin Memory Technologies Inc. and Yangtze Memory Technologies Co. Asked about the notice, the Pentagon said in a statement to Bloomberg News that “we have nothing to announce at this time.” Bloomberg News Senior Editor for Technology & Strategic Industries Michael Shepard joins Bloomberg Businessweek Daily to discuss. He speaks with Carol Massar and Tim Stenovec. -------- Watch Bloomberg Radio LIVE on YouTube Weekdays 7am-6pm ET WATCH HERE: http://bit.ly/3vTiACF Follow us on X: https://twitter.com/BloombergRadio Subscribe to our Podcasts: Bloomberg Daybreak: http://bit.ly/3DWYoAN Bloomberg Surveillance: http://bit.ly/3OPtReI Bloomberg Intelligence: http://bit.ly/3YrBfOi Balance of Power: http://bit.ly/3OO8eLC Bloomberg Businessweek: http://bit.ly/3IPl60i Listen on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with the Bloomberg Business app: Apple CarPlay: https://apple.co/486mghI Android Auto: https://bit.ly/49benZy Visit our YouTube channels: Bloomberg Podcasts: https://www.youtube.com/bloombergpodcasts Bloomberg Television: https://www.youtube.com/@markets Bloomberg Originals: https://www.youtube.com/bloomberg Quicktake: https://www.youtube.com/@BloombergQuicktake

Who will survive and thrive in the new AI era?
AI is already reshaping the value of human expertise, but its effects on workers aren’t predetermined. MIT professor David Autor says the key question isn’t what jobs can be automated, but which tasks within a job are automated and who benefits from that shift. In some cases, AI can increase wages and productivity; in others, it can lower barriers to entry, intensify competition and compress pay. Stanford professor Erik Brynjolfsson discusses whether AI will widen inequality or expand opportunity, and how policymakers can steer its development. -------- More on Bloomberg Television and Markets Like this video? How America Ended Up Paying So Much for Public Buses
Public transit is essential for millions of Americans, but the way buses are procured may be limiting how much service cities can afford. Harvard professor Ed Glaeser says agencies often order highly-customized buses in a market with shrinking competition, while federal funding rules shape how purchases are made. Transit executives argue that operating realities require flexibility, yet agree reform is needed. Could smarter procurement and more competition help cities get more buses for less money? -------- More on Bloomberg Television and Markets Like this video? Is Trump’s Manufacturing Comeback Real?

As President Trump touts potential for 15% GDP growth, Rattner explains why that’s unlikely to happen — and why productivity gains from AI may matter more than tariffs. -------- More on Bloomberg Television and Markets Like this video?
