USA Break Women's 4 x 100m Medley World Record | London 2012 Olympics
📺 Re-live ALL the incredible #Paris2024 action ➡️ https://go.olympics.com/watch The USA's team of Missy Franklin, Rebecca Soni, Dana Vollmer and Allison Schmitt break the world record to win gold in the women's 4x100m medley in the Aquatics Centre at the London 2012 Olympic Games (4 August). Australia won silver in the event with Japan winning the bronze medal. Swimming has featured on the programme of all editions of the Games since 1896. The very first Olympic events were freestyle (crawl) or breaststroke. Backstroke was added in 1904. In the 1940s, breaststrokers discovered that they could go faster by bringing both arms forward over their heads. This practice was immediately forbidden in breaststroke, but gave birth to butterfly, whose first official appearance was at the 1956 Games in Melbourne. This style is now one of the four strokes used in competition. Women's swimming became Olympic in 1912 at the Stockholm Games. Since then, it has been part of every edition of the Games. The men's and women's programmes are almost identical, as they contain the same number of events, with only one difference: the freestyle distance is 800 metres for women and 1,500 metres for men. Dubai's job market is being overwhelmed by an influx of foreign workers, leading to a surge in population, rents, and traffic, and a moderation of salaries and financial benefits for foreign executives. The city's population has grown by over 400,000 people since 2020, making it the costliest city in the Middle East for international employees, with rents for single-family homes increasing by 94% and apartments by 66% since the start of the pandemic. China Preparing for 'Worst-Case Scenario' With Trump, Leland Miller Says
China said it has forcefully cracked down on the fentanyl trade and condemned President Donald Trump’s tariffs, as the world’s two largest economies remain at odds over the conditions for any talks to cool tensions. Officials from China’s Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Public Security said in a briefing on Wednesday the country has achieved success in controlling the drugs and done all it can for the US. The officials asked not to be identified discussing sensitive matters. A Foreign Ministry official said Beijing has done the US a favor and Washington should have said a “big thank you” instead of slapping levies on Chinese imports. He also called on the Trump administration to return to dialogue and expressed willingness to continue working with the US. China Beige Book CEO Leland Miller explains why he believes China is better-prepared for a protracted trade war with the United States than during Trump's first term in office. Leland speaks with Tom Keene and Paul Sweeney on Bloomberg Radio.
