Dirt is a common craving in many parts of Africa - especially amongst pregnant women who need the nutrients contained within the soil. In Tanzania the special clay soil is known as "udongo wa pemba", Swahili for "The Soil of Pemba". Focus on Africa's Tulanana Bohela travelled specially to the hills of Morogoro to find out what dirt really tastes like...but her journey begins in a famous market in Dar Es Salaam.

The key port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates was hit again on Monday. The damage from the latest strike was being assessed, people familiar with the matter said. The site is the only outlet for the country that bypasses the Strait of Hormuz and oil loading at the port had restarted over the weekend after a drone strike caused a fire on Saturday. Four road movie style-documentaries imagine the past and show today's reality, in countries like Turkey, Israel, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan, the Central Asian Republics and China. The films show what is happening if one re-travels Marco Polo's journey again, 700 years after him, his book in mind ("reloaded"), overland, by means of local transport, covering the ancient trade-route on its entire length from Venice to Beijing. We accompany a travel writer on a mission: Bradley Mayhew, 40, born in England, living in the US, is a senior writer for Lonely Planet Publications. He is researching a book on the Silk Road and its legendary voyager. Marco Polo Reloaded shows Bradley at work. He researches, takes notes and pictures, he collects content and experiences. "Curiosity and discovery" is his attitude. He travels by bus, truck or train through oriental cities, inhospitable mountains and forbidding deserts. We wander bazaars and hop dirty bars, we marvel at palaces and wait with him at dusty train stations. We meet people on the road and share their stories. Some cities, Marco Polo passed through 700 years ago, do no longer exist, others have been ultimately altered by modernity, again others still breathe the Orient. Today as in Marco Polo's times some areas are off-limits, dangerous, ridden by crisis or war and the traveler is forced detours. Travelling the Silk Road today is as exciting and adventurous as it was in Marco Polo's time. It is undoubted that Marco Polo travelled East. But did he really reach China? Was he really close to Kublai Khan, as his book suggests? Some historians are doubtful. The films will moderately address these questions, without giving a final answer, of course. Over the past year, Rwanda's government has been accused of involvement in the M23 rebel conflict in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Accusations made in a report by a UN group of experts led to widespread condemnation of Rwanda, and to some countries withdrawing aid. Tony Blair, the UK's former Prime Minister and a long-time ally of Rwanda's President Paul Kagame, has written an article, entitled 'Stand by Rwanda'. It calls on the international community to rethink that withdrawal of aid. So is he casting doubt on that UN report? BBC Africa's Komla Dumor asked him that, when Mr Blair came into our studios in London.

Many people have been left emotionally scarred in Kenya after the scenes of five years ago when more than 1,000 people were killed and around 300,000 were forced to leave their homes, following the disputed elections. The city of Kisumu, in the west of the country, was one of the worst affected by the bloodshed. Kisumu is home to prime minister and presidential contender for next week's elections, Raila Odinga. Attempts have been made there to encourage reconciliation amongst the city's different ethnic communities but as BBC Africa's Anne Mawathe reports many people are still gripped by fear.
