The Brooklyn Tabernacle

God has brought the Brooklyn Tabernacle from a handful of members in a small rundown building in a difficult area to a congregation of more than ten thousand weekly attendees. Pastor Cymbala and his wife, Carol, who directs the popular Grammy Award–winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, have been used by the Lord not only to preach the gospel in the inner city of New York but also to see new churches grow out of the congregation across New York as well as domestically and internationally. The ministry of the church has from the outset reached out to the cross-cultural melting pot of New York City. It is comprised of men, women, and children of all ethnic and national origins. Central to the growth and expansion of the church, however, has been the continual emphasis on prayer, from the Tuesday night prayer meeting that is attended by thousands to the prayer band, made up of members of the church devoted to boldly calling on the Lord for needs from around the world.

Pour Out Your Heart | Pastor Jim Cymbala | Tuesday Prayer Meeting | The Brooklyn Tabernacle
How can we expect God to change our lives if we don’t tell Him what we need? The act of pouring out our hearts—laying every thought, feeling, fear, and expectation at Jesus’ feet—is what deepens our relationship with Him. We can tell the Creator of the universe how we feel at any given moment, and He cares! Let’s take advantage of that wonderful privilege today! Join Pastor Jim Cymbala for today’s daily devotional from 1 Timothy 1:15. In this devotional, Pastor Cymbala breaks down the apostle Paul’s famous line, “I am the chief of sinners.” We have no righteousness on our own. But Jesus gives us His! Righteousness from Christ guards us from the condemnation that the devil tries to pile on us. So Paul meant no condemnation by his statement—he that knew Jesus’ righteousness was on him and that he was saved by grace. Hallelujah! Don’t miss a single daily devotional with Pastor Cymbala! That dark background illuminates the beautiful diamond, just like our trials illuminate God’s goodness and graciousness in our lives. Let’s thank Him for it all today! Join Pastor Jim Cymbala for today’s daily devotional from 1 Timothy 1:7–9. Born-again Christian believers are not meant to live under the law of Moses. Saying that confuses and even angers some people! But we’re helpless to abide by every single law. Jesus died on the cross so that we could get out from legalism and law-based faith. We have to tell our Savior that we’re hopeless without Him. God is our salvation and our hope. Don’t miss a single daily devotional with Pastor Cymbala! Join Pastor Jim Cymbala for today’s daily devotional from 1 Timothy 1:5. Many of us who grew up in church believe that only people from our own church or denomination will go to heaven. But how can that be, if the Bible says that God loves everyone? We must look at what the Scriptures say and go by that. Are we willing to be radical enough to love everyone like Christ does? Only by the power of the Spirit can we do that—let’s pray for His help today! Don’t miss a single daily devotional with Pastor Cymbala! Join Pastor Jim Cymbala for today’s daily devotional from 1 Timothy 1:4. Too often Christians wrangle over minor issues. At the end of our lives, what’s going to be more beneficial to a desperate mother or a man looking for redemption—talking about who Cain’s wife could have been or the fact that Jesus died for the sin of mankind? While biblical discussion is beneficial, let’s not lose sight of what matters most. Don’t miss a single daily devotional with Pastor Cymbala! Join Pastor Jim Cymbala for today’s daily devotional from 1 Timothy 1:1. In this devotional, Pastor Cymbala breaks down the three blessings Paul prayed over Timothy: grace, mercy, and peace. We may think that grace and mercy are the same; rather, they go hand in hand. Grace is God’s unmerited favor toward us, and mercy is His compassion on us. When we live in the reality of these blessings, peace then sets in. Praise the Lord for His goodness to us! Don’t miss a single daily devotional with Pastor Cymbala! Join Pastor Jim Cymbala for today’s daily devotional from 1 Timothy 1:3. The world today is full of people “speaking their truth.” If everyone has their own “truth,” then how are we supposed to know what’s really true? There is only one absolute truth—Jesus Christ. Through the Bible, we find out about the truth so that we can be able to identify false doctrines. Let’s pray for discernment today and lean on what we know is true.
