In California, police officer George Gwaltney discovers the body of 23-year-old Robin Bishop, murdered next to his car on a lonely road. Gwaltney declares his innocence and is acquitted twice, but at a third trial, the FBI convinces the jury of his guilt. Experts from the FBI forensic laboratory established a link between tools searched in Gwaltney's house and markings found on the murder weapon.
