Dr. Fasomoyin Oluwaseyi works at the Kamakwie Wesleyan Hospital in the northern region of Sierra Leone. The hospital serves close to 400,000 people and malaria is the number one killer of children in the region. It is the only place where patients can receive medical care from a qualified doctor within a 60 mile radius. According to the government 76 people died from Covid-19 in Sierra Leone during 2020 while 7,000 people die annually from malaria. The film contains distressing images from the start. In April 1995, in Washington D.C., an individual shot a police officer while he and his colleague were in their car. The police asked the FBI for help. The US and Israel bombed Iranian nuclear and steel facilities on Friday, while Iran retaliated across the Persian Gulf, causing markets to sink and oil prices to rise amid fears an extended Middle East conflict will drag down the global economy. Airstrikes on Friday targeted a heavy water research reactor that’s part of Iran’s Arak nuclear complex and a yellow cake production plant in Yazd province, as well as two of the country’s biggest steelmakers, according to Iranian state media reports. John Pombe Magufuli, the son of a peasant farmer who became Tanzania's president in 2015, has died aged 61. Once praised for his no-nonsense approach, he went on to become a controversial leader, especially over his response to the coronavirus pandemic. He was elected for a second term in 2020 amid opposition accusations of fraud and intimidation. Before he was president he acquired the nickname "the bulldozer" for driving a programme to build roads as minister for works, and later was hailed for his anti-corruption stance and his distinct dislike for wasting money. As president he was also accused of cracking down on dissent and curtailing certain freedoms, but following his death reflections on his time in power will be dominated by his idiosyncratic handling of Covid-19.
