The Brooklyn Tabernacle

God has brought the Brooklyn Tabernacle from a handful of members in a small rundown building in a difficult area to a congregation of more than ten thousand weekly attendees. Pastor Cymbala and his wife, Carol, who directs the popular Grammy Award–winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, have been used by the Lord not only to preach the gospel in the inner city of New York but also to see new churches grow out of the congregation across New York as well as domestically and internationally. The ministry of the church has from the outset reached out to the cross-cultural melting pot of New York City. It is comprised of men, women, and children of all ethnic and national origins. Central to the growth and expansion of the church, however, has been the continual emphasis on prayer, from the Tuesday night prayer meeting that is attended by thousands to the prayer band, made up of members of the church devoted to boldly calling on the Lord for needs from around the world.

Join Pastor Jim Cymbala for today’s daily devotional from 1 Timothy 3:6–7. In this devotional, Pastor Cymbala warns us against pride. The devil was a high-ranking angel with no one to tempt him, yet he was so full of pride that he challenged Almighty God! Now he tries to tempt and trap us so that we will have the same judgment he does. All Christians are susceptible to pride. Let’s pray today to be so full of Christ that there will no room for any conceit. Don’t miss a single daily devotional with Pastor Cymbala! Join Pastor Jim Cymbala for today’s daily devotional from 1 Timothy 3:2–3. In this devotional, Pastor Cymbala reminds us that we cannot love God and money equally. Bickering and bitterness, stinginess and comparison all stem from loving money. Instead of storing up riches and seeking rewards here on earth, let’s turn our focus to God in heaven. Our greatest reward will be seeing Him face to face and hearing, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” (Matthew 25:21). Don’t miss a single daily devotional with Pastor Cymbala! A pastor—or any church leader—needs to be respectable, hospitable, faithful, and teachable. Even for Christians who don’t aspire to be preachers or bishops, we should all ask the Holy Spirit to give us the attributes required of leaders so we can properly represent our God to a hurting world. The world screams for women to dress sensually, while certain churches stack up unreasonable requirements in the name of “modesty.” We have to look at what the Bible says. Let’s approach modesty and what we wear with a spirit of prayer, asking God for peace and guidance rather than pleasing people. Don’t miss a single daily devotional with Pastor Cymbala! Divine Compassion | Pastor Charles Hammond | Tuesday Prayer Meeting | The Brooklyn Tabernacle
Often when Jesus healed people, He responded to them crying out to Him. But one time He healed a man born blind—who hadn’t asked Him for anything. What a picture of our Lord’s amazing grace and compassion! Salvation isn’t us reaching out to God but God reaching down to us. We sinned, and Jesus covered us. Jesus always acts first! We love because He first loved us. We can rest in that truth today. When was the last time you saw God’s grace around you? A great plague in churches today is Christians not purposefully looking for that grace. Life gets hard, and we only look at our circumstances—and miss out on the blessings surrounding us! God is not hiding His goodness from us. We just have to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth of God’s Word to us in our circumstances, and He will renew our spirits! Sometimes that means waking up in the middle of the night to ask forgiveness for something we said earlier! We have to be sensitive to the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit who convicts us. When we yield to Him, we keep short accounts with God and can live with good consciences. Don’t miss a single daily devotional with Pastor Cymbala! God is not dead. The God we pray to and worship is alive! He hears us, speaks to us, and answers our prayers—every single day. Elijah was fed by this living God through ravens, and David was chosen to be king by the same living God. It’s amazing how the outcomes of our lives can change when we lean into this truth. Let’s pray to God today and know that He’s living and listening. Join Pastor Jim Cymbala for today’s daily devotional from 1 Timothy 1:15–16. Many of us think we’re too far gone or we’ve done too much wrong for God to use us. But look at the apostle Paul’s testimony! He called himself the worst of all sinners, not to hold himself to his past, but to illustrate that if God could use him, He could use anyone. Let’s allow the Holy Spirit to guide and use us today. We all have a testimony! Don’t miss a single daily devotional with Pastor Cymbala!
