Bloomberg News Senior Reporter Myles Miller breaks down the events of a deadly shooting in Midtown Manhattan on Monday. It happened at 345 Park Avenue, a 44-story, dark-glass tower that houses the offices of private equity behemoth Blackstone Inc., consultant KPMG, building landlord Rudin Management and the National Football League. Police say the gunman, Shane Tamura of Las Vegas, went into the building and opened fired. Four were killed including Wesley LePatner, the chief executive officer for Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust. Police say the gunman killed himself. He was targeting the NFL, but ended up on Rudin’s floor by mistake, according to two senior law enforcement officers. Blackstone Inc. executive Wesley LePatner was among those killed on Monday during a mass shooting at the firm's Manhattan headquarters. LePatner joined Blackstone in 2014 and later took on the role of chief executive officer of BREIT, Blackstone’s real estate fund for wealthy individuals. Police say one gunman killed himself and four people, including LePatner, at 345 Park Avenue. A man strode across the public plaza outside 345 Park Avenue with an assault rifle, resulting in four people dead, as well as the gunman, in a mass shooting. The gunman, Shane Tamura, had a fixation with Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, or CTE, caused by head trauma, according to two senior law enforcement officers, citing a manifesto and notes found on him. A gunman killed at least four people and himself at an office tower that houses Blackstone Inc., Rudin Management, the National Football League and KPMG among others, sparking hours of chaos and fear in Midtown Manhattan on Monday evening. The suspected gunman's body was found on the 33rd floor, which is occupied by Rudin, and authorities identified the shooter as 27-year-old Shane Tamura from Nevada. A police officer was among the dead in the attack at 345 Park Ave., according to city officials. A Blackstone employee also died, according to a person briefed on the matter. On July 14, Trump announced a 50-day deadline on Russia, threatening to impose stiff economic penalties on Putin if he did not end hostilities with Ukraine.
