The Brooklyn Tabernacle

God has brought the Brooklyn Tabernacle from a handful of members in a small rundown building in a difficult area to a congregation of more than ten thousand weekly attendees. Pastor Cymbala and his wife, Carol, who directs the popular Grammy Award–winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, have been used by the Lord not only to preach the gospel in the inner city of New York but also to see new churches grow out of the congregation across New York as well as domestically and internationally. The ministry of the church has from the outset reached out to the cross-cultural melting pot of New York City. It is comprised of men, women, and children of all ethnic and national origins. Central to the growth and expansion of the church, however, has been the continual emphasis on prayer, from the Tuesday night prayer meeting that is attended by thousands to the prayer band, made up of members of the church devoted to boldly calling on the Lord for needs from around the world.

People around us are watching how we react—whether in seasons of plenty or seasons of want. Do we obey God in every circumstance? He is glorified when we obey His Word. We don’t start our days praying to wooden statues, like people did in Bible days—but we Christians still have idols. Some of us idolize our homes, others our relationships. Many of us are consumed by the idol of money. Anything that comes between us and Jesus is an idol. What miserable lives we lead when we try to worship God and idols at the same time! Let’s rededicate our lives to Jesus today and serve Him only. But following a command about what we put in our mouths is easier to do than following the one that says to watch what comes out of our mouths! Words are deadly weapons. Enter into God’s Rest | Pastor Al Toledo | Sunday Service | The Brooklyn Tabernacle
Do you need solutions? Help? Strength? Instead of trying to fix things, enter into God’s rest. God’s rest is more than a vacation. It’s a state of blessing and calm that makes us trust in our salvation and live in expectation. It makes us both peaceful and aggressively hopeful! No matter the responsibility or the burden we carry, God exhorts us: “Make every effort to enter My rest.” Let’s return to our rest today. A Warning Sign | Pastor Jim Cymbala | Tuesday Prayer Meeting | The Brooklyn Tabernacle
Just because someone gives us a word they think is from God doesn’t mean it’s true. We have to test the spirits! Yes, God does use prophets today, but not everyone who claims to speak for the Lord can be trusted. Let’s not follow anything that isn’t of God! Every word we hear must be tested by the Word of God and the witness of the Holy Spirit. We must reject the false and receive the true.
