Maafushi Central Prison is a high-security prison covering an area the size of ten football pitches. Surrounded by six-meter-high walls, and the sea, the facility houses up to 800 criminals under the strictest security measures. All-round sureillance by a myriad of cameras, strict rules and daily searches are the key components in the success of this prison in the middle of a vacation paradise. The prison comprises a total of nine different units: The largest of these – Unit 9 - a star-shaped building, houses prisoners with higher security level. Units 5 through 8, which surround it, are for inmates with lower security level – and those soon to be released. The women’s wing is located at the other side of the prison.A workshop area is also available, where inmates with good behavior may be allowed to work. Also for the guards, there are strict rules. As for Senior guard Hassan Mohammed, who – as many of his colleagues – also live on the island of Maafushi, just one wall away from the prisoners. The guards don’t carry weapons, only handcuffs – a deescalation measure. The Danube, one of the most remarkable rivers in Europe, contains many secrets. Not just underwater, but also along its course through Austria. In one small section of in Lower Austria the body of water has an infl uence on the surrounding landscape, which has even formed its own microclimate. One speaks of so-called "heat islands" with temperatures that reach nearly Mediterranean levels. Human beings have created a cultural landscape oriented to viticulture over a period of millennia. This is because the warm loess and clay soil promotes the flourishing of grapevines. However, not only crop plants grow there: since primeval times, flora and fauna have settled here that have no rival in Europe. They are all species that live on the slopes of the Danube mainly due to the mild temperatures, and which are often found nowhere else. This documentary follows in the tracks of the widest variety of creatures in the Mediterranean section of the Danube. Among others, the largest lizar, the largest snake in Central Europe, the western green lizard and the Aesculapian snake will be encountered; the audience is invited to take part in the family life of ground squirrels, learn that the heat islands even have their own local species of scorpion, and encounter the praying mantis, the saga pedo or the wasp spider. However, not only the animal kingdom is fascinating. Many fi eld orchids, which are threatened with extinction almost everywhere else, find a final refuge on the slopes of the Wachau Valley. The most colourful European bird, the bee-eater, still broods here in the last remaining colonies. The entire region was named a World Natural and Cultural Heritage Site in 2000. Print

Eagles: The Kings of the Sky | Free Wildlife Documentary Watch: "The Golden Eagle: King of the Mountains" here: https://youtu.be/hjT4wMkjfwM Whether in Alaska or in the Dolomites, eagles are generally seen as Kings of the skies. This film devotes itself on the one hand to the bald eagle, the heraldic bird of the United States, and on the other, the Golden Eagle, Europe's largest predatory bird. Many bald eagles live in the Chilkoot State Park in Alaska's south. In fact, more than 400 pairs reside there for the entire year. With a wingspan of some 2.5 metres, they are amongst the largest of their species. The offspring have to leave the eyrie by September at the latest, as then, winter sets in. On clear, starry nights, one can experience the Northern Lights. There are certain places where especially many eagles group. 3000 to 4500 of them. Because, beneath the Chilkat ice blanket, chum salmon feel at home. The reason for this is the volcanic activity of the surrounding areas. Hot sources feed the different tributaries of the Chilkat. It is the fourth and final salmon migration of the year - nowhere else does this take place so late in the year. This combination of ice-free water and spawning fish facilitates the survival of many young eagles through their first winter. In the Dolomites, we observe a Golden Eagle couple and their offspring. The strategy of hunter and hunted is impressively documented. For the very first time we experience a groundhog's fight for survival, attempting to flee the eagles' eyrie at a height of 2000 meters, despite the fact this means confrontation with the eagle's offspring. Golden Eagles have virtually conquered the entire northern hemisphere. ✔️Heart Of Hurricane Beryl's And Aftermath: Jamaica Residents' Survival Stories As of Wednesday afternoon, Beryl remained a dangerous Category 4 hurricane as it encountered Jamaica with sustained winds of 140 mph. Beryl was moving west-northwestward at 18 mph. The eye passed less than 50 miles to the south of Kingston, Jamaica, which put part of Beryl's destructive eyewall near the southern coast of the island.
