He Barely Touches His Fruit Trees… LOOK What Happened!
Welcome back to Jerry's incredible tropical fruit forest in Jupiter, Florida! Jerry has become known on the channel as the “Set It and Forget It” fruit-tree grower, and today we're touring his property during fruit season to see what's actually producing. This is not your typical perfectly manicured backyard orchard. Jerry experiments with traditional orchard areas, densely planted tropical fruit forests, rare fruit trees and trees that are largely allowed to grow naturally. And some of the results are incredible! We look at mangoes, avocados, white sapote, mulberries, longan, pomegranate, star fruit, citrus, pomelo, Garcinia and many other tropical and subtropical fruit trees. One of the biggest surprises is Jerry's citrus. Many South Florida growers are afraid to plant citrus because of citrus greening, yet some of Jerry's citrus trees continue producing impressive crops. His Sugar Belle is loaded despite showing signs of disease. We also visit one of the most dependable mangoes you can grow—Pickering—and see what happened when Jerry's Sweetheart mango became so heavily loaded that he lost much of the tree and 123 mangoes! Jerry and I don't always agree about pruning, spacing, sunlight and how fruit trees should be managed—and that's part of what makes visiting his property so interesting. His entire yard is an ongoing experiment. If you grow tropical fruit in Florida—or dream of creating your own backyard fruit forest—there is a lot to see in this tour. What fruit tree impressed you the most? Let me know in the comments! Subscribe to Fruitful Trees for more tropical fruit tree tours, growing tips, rare fruit and backyard orchard videos. Jerry now does tours of his yard, you can contact him to find out his tour schedule. Richest Black Family in Atlanta...And Nobody Knows Their Name
Everyone knows Atlanta's famous names — the rappers, the athletes, the movie moguls whose faces sell the city. Almost no one knows the family that actually built it: the stadium anchoring the skyline, the arena where the Hawks play, the airport concourses millions pass through every year, the civil rights museum on the edge of the park. One family's fingerprints are pressed into all of it — and they have never chased a single camera. It started with a plasterer's son in a poor neighborhood called Summerhill, a boy who stuttered, who saved a piece of everything he earned, and who at sixteen bought his own parcel of land for $125. On that empty lot he built a rental house with leftover bricks and collected rent on it — before he ever owned a company. That one quiet law — a paycheck depreciates, ownership compounds — turned $125 into one of the largest Black-owned construction and real-estate firms in America, and a dynasty that has held its fortune across three generations and counting. This is the ownership story of the Russell family of Atlanta — the richest Black family the city has ever produced, hiding in plain sight inside the very buildings you walk past without a second thought. 📘 Get THE EMPIRE PLAYBOOK — the 8 moves that separate the rich from the wealthy: https://payhip.com/b/QcSx8 The same wealth-building moves behind the empires on this channel, rebuilt into a system you can start this week, from exactly where you are. 31 pages. Inside this video: The one rule Herman's father repeated like scripture — save a piece of everything you earn The $125 lot a 16-year-old bought, and the rental house he built on it with leftover bricks How he inherited a small plastering trade in 1952 and flatly refused to keep it small The Maynard Jackson airport decision — 30% to minority firms — that cracked open doors bolted shut for a century The skyline he built: the downtown stadium, the Hawks arena, and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights Food & beverage concessions inside 7 major airports — owning the flow, not just the buildings Why he became the first African American to hold a stake in a major pro sports franchise Why this fortune has no stock ticker, no share price — privately held on purpose The estate-planning discipline that sent his kids to conferences built for America's richest families Alonzo Herndon — born into slavery — and the Auburn Avenue blueprint that came first We go deep on the wealth, power, and legacy of the Black community worldwide. The Truth Behind Jamaica’s Worst Crash
#KendalTrainCrash #jamaicanhistory #railwayhistory The Kendal train crash of 1957 remains Jamaica’s deadliest railway disaster. In this One Love Jamaica documentary, we take a closer look at what caused the tragedy—and why questions remain about its victims. On September 1, 1957, approximately 1,600 passengers boarded an overcrowded excursion train returning from Montego Bay to Kingston. As its two diesel engines and 12 wooden coaches approached Kendal in Manchester, the train’s braking system failed. Three warning whistles sounded before the coaches derailed, killing close to 200 people and injuring hundreds more. But was the Kendal crash simply an unavoidable accident? The official Railway Commission of Enquiry identified the immediate cause as the accidental closure of an incorrectly positioned angle cock within the train’s air-brake system. The inquiry also uncovered poorly maintained braking equipment, severe overcrowding and serious failures within the Jamaica Government Railway. It further accused the acting general manager of procuring a false brake certificate. The official death toll is generally recorded as 187, yet only 177 identified victims are named on the monument unveiled at Kendal in 2025. The memorial acknowledges unknown victims, but publicly available records do not fully explain the difference. Through historical records, archival reporting, present-day footage and clearly labelled dramatic reconstructions, this documentary examines what happened that night, what the official inquiry uncovered and how the tragedy changed Jamaica’s railway history. This is more than the story of a train crash. It is a story about public safety, accountability, collective memory and the Jamaican families whose lives were permanently changed. 50 Insane Facts That Will Change How You See Jamaica
Jamaica has a sunken city under Kingston Harbour, a spa nine times more radioactive than Bath, and one million enslaved Africans landed on an island you could drive across in a day. Most people know the beaches and the reggae and never hear the rest. This is the Jamaica the brochure leaves out. In this video, we explore: → The interior terrain so broken the British army called it the Land of Look Behind, where the Maroons fought an empire to a standstill → A fault line running straight from Jamaica to Haiti that has dropped the Jamaican capital into the ground twice, in 1692 and 1907 → The morning of June 7, 1692, when two thirds of Port Royal slid into the sea in a few minutes and the ground swallowed people whole → A government spa on the south coast whose water is so radioactive that bathers are capped at fifteen minutes, sharing its riverbank with crocodiles → The Taino "extinction" that turned out to be false, and why declaring a people gone was convenient for whoever wanted their land → Jamaica's first European capital, founded in 1509 and abandoned within twenty-five years, its last inhabitants hanged by French corsairs → Tacky's Revolt of 1760, crushed with over eleven hundred killed, leaders left in iron cages to die of thirst in public → The Morant Bay courthouse where two national figures were hanged in 1865, still standing as a burned brick shell → A Scottish settler's ruined castle in Saint Ann, home to the island's earliest recorded serial killer and a body-dumping sinkhole three hundred feet deep → The only working nuclear reactor in the Caribbean, which ran on weapons-grade uranium for thirty years near an active fault → The fastest human ever recorded, born in rural Trelawny, and why an island of under three million holds ninety-plus Olympic medals → The giant swallowtail butterfly found in only two forests on Earth, both in Jamaica, with a six-inch wingspan the size of a small bird And at number fifty: The number almost no one is told. Across the transatlantic slave trade, roughly one million African captives were landed in Jamaica, close to half of every enslaved African brought to the entire British Caribbean, and more than were landed in all thirteen of Britain's American colonies combined. Nearly one in six died on the crossing before they ever saw the island. Their remains lie reburied today on the lawn of a great house at Seville, the human cost of the island made physical, in ground you can still stand on. The Forgotten Village of Richmond Vale in St Thomas
What secrets are hidden within the quiet community of Richmond in St. Thomas? In this episode of Elite Jamaica, I journey into the historic district of Richmond, once part of the old parish of St. David, to uncover the story of a forgotten sugar plantation that dates back more than 200 years. Listed on James Robertson's famous 1804 map of Jamaica, Richmond was once a thriving estate powered by a watermill and worked by nearly one hundred enslaved Africans whose labour fueled Jamaica's colonial sugar industry. As we walk through the community, we'll explore the history of the Richmond Estate, trace its changing owners—including Leonard Wray, John Willis, John Shand, Robert Smart and William Read—and search for any surviving traces of its colonial past. From abandoned stonework and forgotten landscapes to the stories of the people who once lived and laboured here, this is a journey into one of St. Thomas' overlooked pieces of history. Join me as we uncover another forgotten chapter of Jamaica's past, one community at a time.
