Dollar Declines as Trump Says Talks With Iran Underway
The dollar fell after US President Donald Trump said he would postpone strikes against Iranian energy targets, prompting energy prices to decline. The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index declined 0.4% Monday in New York trading, reversing gains from earlier in the session when it touched the highest level since December. Trump cited talks about ending the conflict that were later downplayed by Iranian media, but that was enough to bring relief. Brent crude fell sharply to below $100 a barrel and US Treasuries rebounded, sending yields across the curve lower on Monday, while stocks gained. TD Securities Head of FX Strategy Jayati Bharadwaj joins Bloomberg Businessweek Daily to discuss. She speaks with Carol Massar and Tim Stenovec. -------- Watch Bloomberg Radio LIVE on YouTube Weekdays 7am-6pm ET WATCH HERE: http://bit.ly/3vTiACF Follow us on X: https://twitter.com/BloombergRadio Subscribe to our Podcasts: Bloomberg Daybreak: http://bit.ly/3DWYoAN Bloomberg Surveillance: http://bit.ly/3OPtReI Bloomberg Intelligence: http://bit.ly/3YrBfOi Balance of Power: http://bit.ly/3OO8eLC Bloomberg Businessweek: http://bit.ly/3IPl60i Listen on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with the Bloomberg Business app: Apple CarPlay: https://apple.co/486mghI Android Auto: https://bit.ly/49benZy Visit our YouTube channels: Bloomberg Podcasts: https://www.youtube.com/bloombergpodcasts Bloomberg Television: https://www.youtube.com/@markets Bloomberg Originals: https://www.youtube.com/bloomberg Quicktake: https://www.youtube.com/@BloombergQuicktake

Here, Living With Dead Bodies for Weeks—Or Years—Is Tradition | National Geographic
On the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, the Torajan people believe that a person is not truly dead until water buffalo have been sacrificed at their funeral, serving as the vehicle to the afterlife. Until that time, the bodies are may be kept at the family's home for weeks, months or years and are fed and cared for as if they were alive. Some Torajans continue their relationship with the dead through a ma'nene' ceremony, a type of "second funeral" in which families bring out their ancestors every few years and change their clothes and clean their bodies and crypts. ➡ Subscribe: https://on.natgeo.com/4p5A0D6 ➡ Access our digital archive by becoming a member of National Geographic: https://on.natgeo.com/2Qfm76O #NationalGeographic #Death #Indonesia About National Geographic: National Geographic is the world's premium destination for critically acclaimed storytelling around science and exploration. These minuscule ocean-dwelling oxygen makers are Prochlorococcus (try saying that three times fast). These little guys are special because they contain chlorophyll, the compound that allows for photosynthesis. For those of you who didn’t pay attention in science class, photosynthesis is a process that converts light energy from the sun into fuel for an organism. A by-product of this activity is oxygen. Prochlorococcus is believed to be the most abundant photosynthetic creature on the planet and may provide as much as 20 percent of the oxygen you breathe. In this week’s "Today I Learned," oceanographer and Explorer-in-Residence Sylvia Earle introduces us to these microscopic bacteria.
