The Shocking Reasons Behind the 1970s DESTABILIZATION of Jamaica.

On May 24, 2010, 800 soldiers and 370 police officers stormed their way into Tivoli Gardens, an impoverished district in the capital of Jamaica. Their aim was to restore state authority in this part of Kingston and apprehend Christopher “Dudus” Coke, who was suspected of being the leader of the showa posse. The US authority wanted him extradited to the United States on charges of drugs and arms trafficking charges. The incursion was the culmination of nine months of national political turmoil. The first aim was achieved but at great cost… the second was not, for around 70 civilians and three members of the security forces were killed. Jamaica's FORGOTTEN Prime Minister, Donald Sangster

Donald Sangster was prime minister for 48 days. He succeeded Jamaica's first prime minister in political independence, Sir Alexander Bustamante. Sangster was born on October 26, 1911 and died on April 11, 1967 at the age of 55 years and six months old. There was no celebration of the centenary of his birthday in 2011, unfortunately, despite the fact that his own party, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), was then in office. Is Jamaica ready to go CASH-LESS? What is CBDC And how will consumers be AFFECTED? What does this digital currency mean for us? RECENTLY, Minister of Finance Dr Nigel Clarke announced that the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) would pilot its central bank digital currency (CBDC). This move by the BOJ represents a significant, transformational and game-changing effort that will be a substantial underpinning in Jamaica's journey to becoming a digital society. So what does CBDC mean for consumers and businesses? What is a CBDC? In short, CBDC is the digital version of what we know as paper money and will have value directly equivalent to its paper counterpart. More importantly, it is regulated and issued by the BOJ and will be considered legal tender. Jamaica is not the first country in the region to look into the issuance of CBDC. Today, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank launched its DCash, a digital currency first announced in 2019 as a pilot CBDC project with Barbados-based fintech company Bitt.
