They record for 24 to 48 hours before falling off and floating in the water, where they can be tracked by GPS and retrieved. The video from the study has revealed that the whales feed in water far deeper than expected, and they may use their blow holes to create openings in the ice to breathe. Researchers also collect GPS data to track the whales, giving more clues into their movements and lives. But that's what is happening at Vietnam's Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve. The welfare group Animals Asia has released this footage showing macaques walking across tight ropes, catching rings, and performing other tricks at the direction of their trainers. Dogs have also been seen being forced to jump through flaming hula hoops. The welfare group notes that performing monkeys often face often face poor living conditions and abuse behind the scenes. The park, also known as "Monkey Island," has been designated by UNESCO, a United Nations agency, as a biosphere reserve for demonstrating a “balanced relationship between humans and the biosphere." Animals Asia argues that the animal performances go against the meaning of the reserve and has called for the circus to be shut down. US President Donald Trump is set to receive a briefing on new military options for action in Iran, signaling the potential for fresh escalation in the Middle East. US Central Command’s Admiral Brad Cooper will meet Trump on Thursday, according to an Axios report, which cited two unnamed people. In Rwanda, a group of women create objects of beauty from the unlikely material of cow dung. The art form, called Imigongo, is a tradition that dates back centuries. On a wooden base, the artists create geometric patterns from the dung. When it dries, they apply bold paints of their own making with natural pigments of black, white, red, yellow, and gray. A newly-formed art cooperative is preserving an art that almost died out with the 1994 genocide. Now the members, many who are widows from that time, are gaining recognition for this unusual practice that they have kept alive, and that has helped them to survive.
