Inside America's Toughest Boot Camp for Troubled Teens | Free Documentary Critics claim they’re little more than ’torture camps’, taking tough love way too far. But for desperate parents, military-style boot camps are often seen as the last chance for their children to avoid the vicious cycle of delinquency and jail. We spent five months at the Discovery Challenge Academy, which welcomes 125 troubled adolescents every year. The first two weeks are the hardest. Everything is strictly regimented: 10 minutes to eat, 2 minutes to shower, 10 seconds to put on socks. There are 50 beds per dormitory and even going to the bathroom requires permission. Phones, TVs and the internet are all banned, as is seeing family during the first three months. Who are these young people? How did they get there and what trials and challenges will they have to overcome? ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ Instagram: https://instagram.com/free.documentary/ Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #bootcamp ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bringing high-class documentaries to you on YouTube for free with the latest camera equipment used by well-known filmmakers working for famous production studios. World’s Most Dangerous Railroads | Tanzania, Argentina, Peru & India | Free Documentary World’s Most Dangerous Roads - Best Of - Tanzania & Kenya: https://youtu.be/hf-eKuM2Vmw 00:00:00 Tanzania In 1970, construction began on the Tanzania-Zambia Railway (Tazara), a daring project financed by China to connect Zambia's Copperbelt to the East African coast. Despite being deemed too risky by the World Bank, the $500 million railway was completed in six years by Chinese and African workers. The 1860-kilometer track stretches from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania to Kapiri Mposhi in Zambia, overcoming dense forests, mountains, and rivers. The project claimed the lives of 160 workers and continues to pass through wildlife-rich nature parks. 00:51:40 Argentina They touch the sky and for some they go straight to hell afterwards, leading over extreme heights, across oceans or savannahs and braving hurricanes. A challenge for intrepid engineers and railway builders who have been conquering nature with state-of-the-art technology for almost 300 years. Railway lines are not only legendary carriers of myths, people and machines. They are also the proof of high engineering skills and witnesses to the indomitable will of humankind to open up new routes into the unknown in order to conquer nature and its treasures. Railway lines on all continents tell the story of industrial culture, of progress and the art of travel. 01:43:15 Peru The Ferrocarril del Sur, one of the highest train routes on earth, runs right through the mountains of Peru. To this day, it is considered a miracle in the world of railways. The rails not only lead to the famous ruined city of Machu Picchu but connect the ancient Inca capital of Cusco with Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca and the gleaming white city of Arequipa. A train journey with the Andes Explorer through a grandiose landscape and an undeveloped and inaccessible area. 02:35:25 India The Pamban Railway crosses the tropical landscape of Tamil Nadu, the former Madras, for around 600 kilometers. Heavy storms and rain showers make the route a challenge for Indian Railways to this day. The film accompanies the "Rameswaram Express" over the notorious Pamban Bridge, the first bridge across the Indian Ocean. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ Instagram: https://instagram.com/free.documentary/ Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #railways ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bringing high-class documentaries to you on YouTube for free with the latest camera equipment used by well-known filmmakers working for famous production studios. World’s Toughest Boat Trips | The Arctic | Free Documentary World’s Toughest Boat Trips - Egypt: https://youtu.be/F6OE2WXAc6s In this episode: Host Ian Wright travels to the high Arctic from the coast of northern Norway, working his passage on a trawler fishing for cod, before continuing his voyage on a specially ice-strengthened vessel around Spitsbergen, the world’s northernmost inhabited islands, in order to search for polar bears. Ian’s tough Arctic journey starts in the northern Norwegian fishing port of Tromso, more than 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle. From here, aboard the fishing trawler Hermes, he travels 300 miles further north to rich fishing grounds near remote Bear Island. With 18 crew on board, the Hermes can catch and store up to 450 tons of fish in its freezer before needing to return to port to unload. Before the fish are frozen, the heads and guts are removed in the onboard fish factory, where Ian helps out. It’s a tough job, with the crew working shifts, 6 hours on, 6 hours off, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for weeks on end, often in rough seas. Ian struggles to keep up with the hard-working crew and admits he’s not much of a fisherman, but he has plenty of laughs, keeping spirits high all the time. After 5 days at sea, the Hermes drops Ian off at the remote Spitsbergen islands, where he boards the 1950s-era Arctic cruise ship Stockholm, which takes a small group of passengers in search of polar bears and other wildlife. Spitsbergen's rich wildlife and historical significance in Arctic exploration are highlighted, including visits to sites used for North Pole expeditions. Roald Amundsen launched from Spitsbergen in 1926, becoming the first person to reach both Poles. Ian also explores Danskoya Island, where a Swedish attempt to reach the North Pole in 1897 ended in disaster. As the Stockholm navigates past stunning Arctic landscapes, it reaches the edge of the pack ice, encountering a variety of wildlife including polar bears, an Arctic fox, and walruses. Ian's journey from Norway to Spitsbergen is an unforgettable adventure. This series explores some of the planet's most fascinating and hard-core boat journeys. We undertake epic journeys by boat in some of the toughest environments on earth. During our journeys, we look at how the technology of boat travel has been adapted to survive, trade with, and connect isolated communities. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ Instagram: https://instagram.com/free.documentary/ Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #boattrip ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bringing high-class documentaries to you on YouTube for free with the latest camera equipment used by well-known filmmakers working for famous production studios. The Last Whale Hunters of Indonesia | Lamalera: The Ultimate Battle | Free Documentary No-Go Zones - Khayelitsha, South Africa: https://youtu.be/3lLoC3C_UdI Lamalera: a remote village of 2 500 people on the southern coast of Indonesia. In this hostile land where nothing grows, people have managed to survive only thanks to a spectacular age-old hunt: the traditional and sacred harpooning of sperm whales. Despite danger and hard lives, the villagers have always been self-sufficient, living according to their traditions, far from globalization. But today, this balance is about to be broken. As people from a neighboring island start fishing with dynamite, the whales are disappearing. With no more whales to hunt, Lamalera is dying. In order to survive and feed their families, some villagers decide to embrace modernity and start using motors to fish further away from the island. But others want to preserve their traditional way of life at all costs, leading to a serious conflict of generations. Ancient social codes are falling apart. «Everybody for himself» is becoming the new model. Meanwhile, environmental protectionists are getting worried about overfishing and plan to turn the area into a natural reserve. What can we imagine for the last whale hunters? When globalization strikes and people are torn between the preservation of traditions and the need for modernity, discover how an entire village has to confront a new kind of battle, an ultimate battle—for their survival. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ Instagram: https://instagram.com/free.documentary/ Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #indonesia ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bringing high-class documentaries to you on YouTube for free with the latest camera equipment used by well-known filmmakers working for famous production studios. World’s Toughest Boat Trips | The Great Lakes | Free Documentary World’s Toughest Boat Trips - Peru: https://youtu.be/sQisJQgDv8Q This series explores some of the most fascinating and hard-core boat journeys on the planet. We undertake epic journeys by boats in some of the toughest environments on earth. During our journeys we look at how the technology of boat travel has been adapted to survive, trade with and connect isolated communities. In this episode, Globe Trekker adventurer Holly Morris explores the waters that shaped America – the Great Lakes. Covering 94,000 square miles, the Great Lakes are the largest reservoir of fresh water on the planet and one of the world’s busiest waterways. For centuries these waters have been a critical trade artery, determining the history and economy of North America and the world. Our episode starts in Detroit, where we learn about the river’s role during prohibition in the rum-running trade. We then head up the stunning coast of Lake Huron, exploring some of Michigan’s 3200 miles of lakeshore. In Oscoda we learn about the very first shipping industry – lumber, the history Michigan’s green gold and how boats were used to build America. On the way to the Northern Peninsular Holly gets a head for heights and climbs 550ft up Mackinac Bridge. The views are stunning across the Mackinac straits and the glassy surface of Lakes Michigan and Huron. It’s not always plain sailing though and on the rugged shoreline of the Shipwreck Coast, Holly joins a team of Marine archaeologists in their search for sunken treasure. Scanning the murky depths of Lake Superior we discover a watery graveyard and the skeletons of unlucky ships, swallowed by the waves. For the final part of our journey we board the toughest boat of them all, a 1014ft giant on her way to pick up 70,000 tonnes of Montana coal. Spending three days on board, Holly meets the crew of modern day mariners and finds out what life is like living on the lakes. We pass through the treacherous St Mary’s river, navigating and the Soo Locks, the busiest canal system in the world. After 3 days and 2 nights on board, powering across the largest lake in the world, we arrive in our final destination, the twin ports of Duluth and Superior. Its an epic adventure and a story of big industry, modern history and real lives. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe to Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ Instagram: https://instagram.com/free.documentary/ Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #boattrip ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bringing high-quality documentaries to you on YouTube for free with the latest camera equipment used by well-known filmmakers working for famous production studios. World’s Toughest Boat Trips | Tanzania | Free Documentary World’s Toughest Boat Trips - Philippines: https://youtu.be/mm5Yt28Z_hg This series explores some of the most fascinating and hard-core boat journeys on the planet. We undertake epic journeys by boats in some of the toughest environments on earth. During our journeys we look at how the technology of boat travel has been adapted to survive, trade with and connect isolated communities. Starting his journey at the southern end of Lake Tanganyika, the world’s largest freshwater lake, Zay travels north for over 300 miles on the extraordinary ‘Liemba’, which is not only said to be the world’s oldest surviving passenger ferry, but also has an incredible wartime history. The imposing 230 foot long ship, originally named the Graf von Goetzen, was built in 1913, when Tanzania was part of colonial German East Africa. At the start of WWI in 1914, the ship was converted into a warship, fitted with powerful guns to fight ships from nearby British and Belgian colonies. In 1916, however, the ship’s German commanders were forced to scuttle it in order to prevent its capture by the British or Belgians. The location of the sunken ship was soon discovered, and when the war ended in 1918, the British and Belgians attempted to lift it up from the lake bed. In 1924 it was finally raised to the surface, and astonishingly, despite being underwater for 8 years, was in good enough condition to be placed back into service as a passenger ship. Today, a century on, it continues to provide a vital service ferrying hundreds of local Tanzanians up and down the lake. After a fantastically enjoyable two-day journey aboard the Liemba, stopping at remote villages along the way, Zay disembarks at Kigoma, towards the northern end of Lake Tanganyika. Heading on from there in a ‘lake taxi’, that is a small overcrowded open boat carrying over 100 villagers together – Zay reaches Gombe Stream National Park, where he goes trekking through the forest in search of wild chimpanzees. Zay’s luck is in, and he has a rare and remarkable encounter at close quarters with an extended family group of over 20 chimpanzees. 150 years ago, the central African region around Lake Tanganyika was a main location where slaves were captured, an estimated 1.5 million of whom were force-marched over 750 miles to the coast of the Indian Ocean, before being shipped by dhow to the slave market on the island of Zanzibar off the Tanzanian coast. For the last part of his journey Zay follows this tragic and traumatic trail, sailing on a traditional working dhow trading goods to Zanzibar. Traders have sailed the Indian Ocean for thousands of years in these tough and historic boats, whose design has barely changed since the days they carried slaves. The ocean crossing by dhow is a spectacular though poignant end to Zay’s once-in-a-lifetime Tanzanian adventure. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe to Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ Instagram: https://instagram.com/free.documentary/ Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #boattrip ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bringing high-class documentaries to you on YouTube for free with the latest camera equipment used by well-known filmmakers working for famous production studios. Namibia: A Country Divided | Free Documentary
Namibia: A Country Divided | Free Documentary Mumbai - A Tale of Contrasts: https://youtu.be/t6Rv1jwfGi4 Namibia has the third highest levels of income inequality in the world. 6% of the population own 70% of the land and here, the wounds of German Colonisation run deep. Between 1904 -1908, the Germans established concentration camps where the indigenous Herero and Nama people were interned. Up to 80% of them died in what Germany later recognised as the first genocide of the 20th Century. While the descendants of these victims, like Karvita, live on illegal settlements in constant fear of eviction, the descendants of these colonists continue to own most of the land and have no problem justifying their inheritance. Most of Namibia’s vast natural resources are owned or controlled by foreigners. The diamond industry is dominated by DeBeers and the ruling Swapo party, widely seen as corrupt, is propped up by its historic ally: China. The construction and uranium industries are controlled by the Chinese and documents leaked in 2021 revealed that North Korea was illegally subcontracted to build the country’s State House. Most of the country is sparsely populated, enabling nature to flourish. It’s home to one to one of the greatest wildlife populations in the world, including the only free roaming black rhinos. But these animals are constantly threatened by Chinese mafia while global warming is increasing desertification, threatening indigenous communities. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ Instagram: https://instagram.com/free.documentary/ Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #namibia ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bringing high-class documentaries to you on YouTube for free with the latest camera equipment used by well-known filmmakers working for famous production studios. Extreme India: Cow Vigilantes, Disabled Dating & More | Unreported World | Free Documentary Mumbai - A Tale of Contrasts: https://youtu.be/t6Rv1jwfGi4 00:00:00 India’s Cow Vigilantes The Unreported World team investigates a series of brutal mob killings that have shocked India. Across the country, Hindu vigilantes have attacked and killed Muslims over allegations that they have eaten or killed cows, which are sacred in Hinduism. Mirren Gidda films with these ‘Cow Vigilantes’ in a country where eating meat can mean murder. 00:22:58 India’s Blind Daters Most people in India believe marriage to be essential, and yet people with disabilities are used to being shut out of the marriage market. Now they are holding their own matchmaking events all over the country, with dozens of disabled singletons coming together in the hope of finding a life partner. In a heart-warming film Marcel Theroux, befriends a number of the participants and follows their search for love. 00:47:11 India’s Love Cheat Detectives Find out how the digital dating revolution has affected a country where arranged marriage is the norm but where more and more people are now meeting partners online. This anonymity has created a world of distrust and suspicion resulting in a booming private investigation business. Unreported World went inside one such ladies detective agency in Delhi where the number of private investigators has increased by 30% in the last five years. Nelufar Hedayat follows their investigations into alleged love cheats and discovers that in a country where privacy laws are woefully inadequate the detectives’ tactics aren’t always scrupulous. 01:10:14 Bollywood MeToo Reporter Sahar Zand and Director Alicia Arce are in Bollywood to investigate how the #MeToo campaign has taken off in India’s film industry. The team talk to some of the country’s top actresses who are speaking out against assault, sexual harassment and rape. In a country where attitudes to women are changing but where many people still hold conservative views about the role of women and where being a victim of sexual assault is often regarded as shameful, can the #MeToo movement really gain momentum? ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ Instagram: https://instagram.com/free.documentary/ Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #india ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bringing high-class documentaries to you on YouTube for free with the latest camera equipment used by well-known filmmakers working for famous production studios. Asia's Largest Slum, India's Richest City | Mumbai: A Tale of Contrasts | Free Documentary Extreme India - Cow Vigilantes, Disabled Dating & More: https://youtu.be/KMHwx44ppEE It’s one of the most populous cities on the planet with 22 million inhabitants, predicted to increase to 30 million by 2035. Nicknamed ‘the infernal Metropolis’, Mumbai is a city in perpetual development. But with millions of people living in slums located on valuable real estate, how can city planners balance the competing needs of the population? In Dharavi, the largest slum in Asia, over one million people are packed into the 2 km. slum. But although its residents are poor, there’s a real dynamism. Mahesh, 27, was born and lives in this slum and would never leave it. He runs a recycling plant and employs around 20 people. Dharavi’s underground economy is thought to generate 800 million euros per year. But it also lies on prime real estate in the very centre of Mumbai so its future is in doubt. Every day, new towers of glass or concrete emerge from the earth. With the support of the municipality, real estate tycoon, Babulal Varma, razes slums to build luxury apartments for the upper classes. As the city constantly expands, it pushes into the surrounding forests and natural spaces, such as Sanjay Gandhi Park. The fifty leopards who live there regularly make forays into the new housing estates. They attack stray dogs, but also the inhabitants. Each year, several people are killed by feline attacks. At night, forest department rangers patrol to prevent leopard incursions. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ Instagram: https://instagram.com/free.documentary/ Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #mumbai ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bringing high-class documentaries to you on YouTube for free with the latest camera equipment used by well-known filmmakers working for famous production studios. World's Most Remote Village: Growing Up in the Himalayas | The Only Son | Free Documentary Most Dangerous Ways To School - China: https://youtu.be/2stym7bSAng Pema is a Tibetan whose plans for the future are being thwarted by his past. He is his parents' only son, and they want him to return to the village of his birth, marry a local girl and take care of them. He and his sisters spent their youth in a children's home in the city, while his parents stayed behind in their remote Himalayan village. Together with his sisters, one of whom was adopted by a Dutch couple and grew up in the Netherlands, Pema goes to visit the distant village. The only way to their family's home is a 10-day trek through the mountains. After a warm reunion, tensions quickly rise: the parents expect their only son to accept his responsibility, get married and tend to their land. But Pema can't imagine life in this isolated place devoid of computers or books, and he also wants to save his sisters from a similar fate. With spectacular cinematography of the mountainous landscape as its background, this documentary presents a sensitive generational conflict that reveals the contrasts between choosing for a primitive life in the mountains, the future that parents want for their children, and the extinction of traditions. Pema and his Westernized sisters don't want to abandon their parents, but they also look forward to their own, modern existence. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ Instagram: https://instagram.com/free.documentary/ Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #nepal ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bringing high-class documentaries to you on YouTube for free with the latest camera equipment used by well-known filmmakers working for famous production studios. African Artistry: Crafting from the Heart of the Wild | Senegal, Ethiopia & Kenya | Free Documentary World’s Most Dangerous Roads - Tanzania & Kenya: https://youtu.be/hf-eKuM2Vmw This documentary series offers three in-depth portraits of contemporary African creative life, from three very different parts of the continent: Senegal, Ethiopia, and Kenya. Each episode sees the creation of a single, traditional artwork or object from scratch. The episode then ends with the object being displayed, worn, or used. But this linear structure is simply a medium to explore what the object really means, and its broader cultural context. We discover the artist’s biography, their inspirations and calling. We come to understand the materials they use, how, and where they are sourced, and explore what these objects mean to the communities these artists live in. Handmade in Africa prioritises intimate access, celebrating the beautiful detail within each object, the techniques employed by each craftsperson, and draws viewers into the life of one primary artist (or one small family group) while also giving a sense of the community and village life going on around them. These are fly-on-the-wall films in the truest sense, and allow the audience to gain a unique perspective not just on the artworks and objects, but on the lives of the people who make them. 00:00:00 Ethiopia 00:28:46 Senegal 00:57:31 Kenya ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ Instagram: https://instagram.com/free.documentary/ Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #ethiopia ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bringing high-class documentaries to you on YouTube for free with the latest camera equipment used by well-known filmmakers working for famous production studios.
