The Brooklyn Tabernacle

God has brought the Brooklyn Tabernacle from a handful of members in a small rundown building in a difficult area to a congregation of more than ten thousand weekly attendees. Pastor Cymbala and his wife, Carol, who directs the popular Grammy Award–winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, have been used by the Lord not only to preach the gospel in the inner city of New York but also to see new churches grow out of the congregation across New York as well as domestically and internationally. The ministry of the church has from the outset reached out to the cross-cultural melting pot of New York City. It is comprised of men, women, and children of all ethnic and national origins. Central to the growth and expansion of the church, however, has been the continual emphasis on prayer, from the Tuesday night prayer meeting that is attended by thousands to the prayer band, made up of members of the church devoted to boldly calling on the Lord for needs from around the world.

Stop Running from Your Cross | Pastor Luke Pettrey | Sunday Service | The Brooklyn Tabernacle
When Jesus told His disciples that He was going to suffer and die, Peter rebuked Him. "Never, Lord!" he said. But our ideas are never better than God's! Jesus knew that the way to life was the way of the cross. We don't like that so much. But when we lay down our own desires and surrender to God's will, He will give us the victory and life we so deeply long for. Rich Man, Poor Man | Pastor Jim Cymbala | Sunday Service | The Brooklyn Tabernacle
The difference between richness and poorness could be as simple as one good deed. A five-dollar bill doesn’t mean much here on earth—but if it’s used to bless others, it has extreme value in heaven! Meanwhile, $50,000 on earth would be meaningless if it was only used for selfish reasons. If we have Christ, we are rich! Jesus did good things with His earthly life—let’s be like Him today. Let Go, Let God | Pastor Jim Cymbala | Sunday Service | The Brooklyn Tabernacle
The sudden death of Charlie Kirk rocked our nation this week. Thousands are shocked and grieved. In a sick twist, however, others are celebrating. Pastor Jim Cymbala speaks directly to this situation, giving a strong reminder from 1 John 3–4 of how Christians should be toward others. Haven't we all tried telling God how to run our lives? We connect all the dots and explain to the Lord how He should fix our issues—but the more we run the show, the worse it gets! Our Father wants us to trust Him, not control Him. Beautiful things happen when we release our hold on life and let God make it better than anything we could ever do ourselves! We live in a society that pitches different ways we can totally change our lives. The reality is, we can’t change ourselves. But we don’t have to! God Almighty offers us transformation, including forgiveness and freedom. If we live like we’re in control, we will fail over and over again. But if we believe God to work within us, He will do in us all that we need Him to!
