However, today in the year 2023, the truth behind this wicked and cunning pact that France forced its colonies to sign, is being brought to light. JACKIE and JADE are in China searching for the legendary LOTUS TEMPLE with a comically deadpan MONK as their guide. Jade finds the Lotus Temple first and befriends XU-LIN, the young girl who is trapped in the Temple, cursed to become a monster to protect the Temple from intruders. It turns out the Monk was only using Jackie in order to get to the magical SCROLL OF HUNG-CHAO, which gives him deadly magic powers. With some help from Xu-Lin, the Monk is defeated, and Jackie figures out a way to rescue the young girl from the Lotus Temple's magic.
